Ashlee Simpson said she’d like to create her own clothing line too! She has already entered the design game, recently made a collection of T-shirts for U.S. retailer Wet Seal.
Fashion is always something that’s fun for me,” Simpson said in an interview Saturday.
In the near future, I’ll be designing my own clothes as well, so I’m looking forward to that.”
Simpson said she has her own unique style but confesses to being an admirer of Deborah Harry’s look.
She was definitely sexy but wasn’t trying to be and I loved that,” Simpson said of the Blondie singer.
Ashlee enjoys knitting but says there aren’t any immediate plans to skill any baby booties for her new roll of joy when he or she arrives in late fall.
I really like to do it (knitting) but I always kind of have a hole in it. I don’t have anything made yet for my baby but maybe I will.”
Simpson still has fashion on the front burner as she takes on the role as the face of a Canadian clothing line, she is the spokeswoman for the relaunched Request line, an affordable apparel brand comprising casual and dressy separates.
Canadian punk rock star Avril Lavigne also launches Abbey Dawn Clothing Line: “It’s Absolutely My Wardrobe,” she said.
The collection consists of skirts, hoodies, skinny jeans, and T-shirts and features a lot of stars, skulls, zebra print and checkers, according to Avril. She also plans to add sunglasses and handbags to the collection, which is available in stores now.
Every eight weeks I have new pieces coming into the store,” Avril Lavigne told MTV News. “So we’re designing like crazy — like, tons of stuff — and it’s so much fun.”
It was a great opportunity for me to do this, and now that I’m older and more into fashion and stuff, I’ve put together a cute little line. It’s totally my style and everything I would wear. It’s absolutely my wardrobe.”
My dad gave me the nickname Abbey Dawn when I was a little girl,” she said. “It was a street he saw. And all my friends in high school called me Abbey. I always really liked the name. I didn’t know if maybe I would name my girl Abbey if I had a girl one day, or a song name. So I had a clothing line first, so I named it Abbey Dawn.”
The singer’s very pleased to ultimately see her outfits on fans and doesn’t even mind when they come to her concerts in the same thing she’s dressing.
I’ve seen some of the fans at my shows wearing my shirts, and sometimes I’ve been onstage wearing [one of the shirts],” she said, “and they have the same one on, and I’m like, ‘Hey, nice shirt,’ and I get really excited.
[I'm looking forward to] seeing people walk around with it,” she added. “It will be really cool.”
