Brooch is back in fashion!
Plenty of celebs wear brooches as an accessory to their evening gowns and casual outfits. For instance, Sharon Stone, Paris Hilton and of course, Michelle Obama, now the first lady of the US! I guess it was she who made brooches extremely popular again.
Brooches or fibulae are perhaps the oldest type of jewelry. When man first took to wearing something more than a loin cloth, he appeared to need a thing to hold the cloth together. The thorn was probably the first of these pins.
Can you imagine what a long history a brooch has that it developed from a thorn into a beautiful little jewelry item we know today?
Thousands of years and still popular!
Of course, as soon as they were being worn for functional purposes, brooches became a part of fashion as well.
It wouldn’t be long even for the first brooch wearer to have these accessories take on a look of their own. For this reason we have an incredible variety to choose from today.
They can come in varying shapes and sizes. Browse through the web, and you’ll see them shaped into a leaf, a sheep, a fish, a butterfly, a flower, or a simple slender cylinder.
They come in different colors and materials as well: silver, gold, bronze, steel, pewter, even wood or brass can be used to construct anything from Celtic crosses to stylized unicorns.
Some simple, some sophisticated, some plain, some studded with gems. The price varies from about ten dollars for a very simple one up to an unlimited sum. Everything depends on the metal and precious stones used.
Now a little bit about how to wear the brooch… The brooch is one of the most versatile and accessible jewelry.
Dig through your grandma’s jewelry box for a vintage piece or find a new, modern interpretation in a shop. Pin it on to add flash to your little black dress or throw some sparkle on your office attire. You can either use it to add some beauty to your casual wear or a splash of elegance to your already glamorous garb.
But remember that the brooch can easily steal the attention from other parts of your wardrobe. It is therefore significant to keep this in mind when choosing one before leaving the house.
It is equally important to remember this when setting out to buy one or the other.
Ok, girls, as far as we know now that a brooch is a must-have piece of jewelry you should surely purchase one to add some grace and style to your outfit!

Hah, even though I’m not an exceptionally fashionable person, in recent years it seems I’ve been about 6 to 12 months ahead on fashion. 8 months ago I bought a brooch at an antique store, and told my husband: I’ll bet you anything brooches will be back in fashion by next winter. People declared me crazy, but hey, here we go!
You’ve done an excellent job with this blog, typically blogs lack cohessiveness. I find I can follow yours right along. Cheers!
