Hat parade on Ladies’ day in Britain

The British like celebrating the Ladies’ Day in a special way giving women a great chance to show their imagination and wear the most extravagant, outlandish and downright add hats.

This year was not an exception and as you can see by the pictures the hats were more than just unusual.

Let’s start from Princess Eugenie’s green hat. I just don’t understand why she had chosen this one for wear. It really looks like “a giant garden pea” perched on the front of the girl’s head. And the hat doesn’t go well to the whole attire. A strange option…

Princess Beatrice wore a subtle monochrome hat trimmed with one long feather. The hat looked elegant but absolutely invisible next to her sister’s garish creation. Princess Anne looked sophisticated wearing a simple lace-trimmed hat.

Penny Lancaster, a 38 year-old model, picked a simple wide-brimmed purple hat that looked great together with her apparel. Model Erin O’Connor was very classy wearing a nice black hat.

Other hats were much more elaborate. For example, racegoer Anneka Tanaka-Svenska appeared with a gorgeous construction on the head, woven from plaited blonde hair and laced with pearls. The masterpiece (I can’t find another word for such a creation!) was made by milliner and Britain’s Got Talent judge Louis Mariette.

Another huge bonnet that made the wearer stagger while walking was made of 800 marshmallows. According to rumors the project took three weeks to complete.

Jade Taylor, the inventor of the pink creation, confessed the hat was so heavy that she had to take it off for a rest at regular intervals during the racing.

The 19-year-old said:

I just love marshmallows. I thought it would be something a bit different but I never realized it would be this heavy.’

There were a few sweet-lovers, including a trio of chocoholics who wore hats inspired by their favorite Quality Street sweets, and a girl who topped her outfit with a giant ice-cream cone.
