Golden Spring 2013 by Zuhair Murad

Excellence is always achieved through hard work and prominent in every detail, that could be perhaps the story behind this exciting new collection by Zuhar Murad. His new amazing collection is very classy, elegant, and exploits a lot of golden and silver hues.

Zuhair Murad, a Beirut based designer is also loved by the celebrities, such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Ivana Trump, Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, Kellie Pickler, Shakira, Katy Perry, Christina Applegate, Vanessa Williams, Ana Ortiz and the list goes on. But, it is quite evident on why they love him!

The collection includes flowing gowns, as well as see through mini pieces, but each one of them is incredibly desirable and ultra-hot! Of course these pieces are not for the daily wear, but they are truly works of art! Each piece is intricate with details, allowing the viewer to be gazing at each one of them for hours. However, it is definitely true that the collection also exudes the feminine vibes, as these dresses are showing high class in being irresistible and sexually appealing.

It is also worthwhile noting, that the collection is heavily inspired by the baroque style, as it is evident in detailed elaboration of each one of the pieces, and the abundance of such noble colors, such as gold, silver, and sometimes champagne. The allure of this collection is quite irresistible, as it is a definite head turner with the floral patterns, along with other details.


The collection also includes few bridal dresses, where all of them have that distinct aerial beauty around them, which is desired by any bride to be. One of the constant themes, is the reference to the ancient Greek style, evident in some of the pieces, however the Spring 2013 collection is more of a classy, elegant and gorgeous pieces!

Elie Saab is a master of an evening dress. His Spring 2013 haute couture collection is all about femininity. The dreamy dresses and gowns feature elegant silhouettes and wispy fabrics as well as a signature sparkle. Color palette ranges from white to light blue, beige, lavender, gold, red and black.

The opening number is a white below the knee ress with the overlaid lace on a nude sheer fabric. It’s followed by some dresses in solid fabrics with lace appliques and sparkly embroidery.

The range of dresses in light blue feature voluminous decorations, sparkly lace, and satin elements. Opaque and sheer elements are interchanging and mixed together which gives dresses a nice contrast.

The beige dresses are decorated with gold embroidery which makes for a gorgeous combination. One of the gowns comes with a coat with 3/4 sleeves and an embroidered neck and cuffs. Other dresses come in floor and knee length.

Then there are lavender dresses with sheer skirts or bustiers decorated with overlaid lace and voluminous details.

The designer intricately combines lace with opaque fabric creating mesmerizing transitions in the gowns. The layered lace red dresses are simply stunning decorated with lace appliques and sparkle.

There are also some printed numbers embellished with appliques that gives them an amazing unusual look.

The closing look of the show was this epic wedding dress with a huge skirt and a lace-decorated floor-length tulle veil. Designed in nude beige the dress also features floral lace patterns.

The collection is full of potential red carpet looks. There elegant gowns as well as more daring ones but they are surely all beautiful. What do you think about Elie Saab’s haute couture Spring 2013 collection?

Valentino’s Haute Couture Spring 2013 collection is an eye-pleaser as usual. The collection consists of feminine dresses and gowns decorated with lace, tulle and flower details. The crafted fabric caging as in the pictures above also embroidered the floor-length creations adding drama to them.

Elegant silhouettes feature high necks, knee and floor length, flowing skirts and sleek tops. Some gowns also feature deep V necks and fuller skirts. In some outfits the sleeves are slightly inflated.

The gown below is printed with slightly visible blue and puirple flower pattern and features balloon sleeves. Other pieces are decorated with voluminous flower details and appliques as well as frill and ruffles.

Other number of the collection include skirt suits and sleek sophisticated dresses with accentuated shoulders. Some of these numbers include capes, peplum details, and embroidered blazers.

Ranging from minimalistic smooth dresses to generously decorated frocks this couture collection is quite diverse. The embroidered pieces are very detailed and feature different types of floral patterns.

The dress below has an exlusive skirt design as the rest of the collection features regular flowing ones. This one is layered. The outer embroidered skirt has an assymetrical shape while the under skirt is made of sheer skirt.

There are a couple of more similar square skirts in the collection. The design gives the dress an angular assymetrical skirt which is quite refreshing.

The color palette of the collection ranges from neutral black and white to bright red, pale pink, gray, and pale mint. The models even wore matching footwear to their outfits. Some were made in satin while others were decorated similarly to the dresses.

Iris van Herpen Haute Couture Spring 2013

Iris Van Herpen is a fairly new designer. She started her own label in 2007 and had previously interned at Alexander McQueen. Herpen’s style is very much technology-oriented. Her work combines craftsmanship and innovative materials that translate in amazing structural though-provoking pieces.

This year the designer showed eleven incredible looks that were inspired by voltage. Herpen collaborated with the designer Neri Oxman and Austrian architect Julia Koerner to create two 3D-printed numbers in the collection.

Her geometrical dresses are all about form and detail. The first number is a cutout dress decorated with 3D details. The next one is an oversize coat with similar decorations and big revers.

The next look is a dress with rounded shoulders and a waist-defining built-in belt detail. The next few dresses are decorated with voluminous details and standing fringe. The black dress that looks as if it was made of multiple mesh layers was 3D-printed.

One particular outfit consisting of a cape and a skirt (below), that is covered with white triangular details with black tips that make for a patterned look was also 3D-printed. The cape is embracing the shoulders while the bell-shaped skirt is holding its form.

It wasn’t the first time the designer used 3D-printed clothes in her collections but these beautiful pieces are simply incredible.

The next is a maxi dress would have been a regular black dress if it wasn’t for crystal-like 3D decorations sewn onto the entire dress. And finally the last number is a metallic cut out dress with a spiked surface.

The models also wore interesting footwear that complemented the dramatic outfits. The models also carried clutches designed in style with the dresses. What do you think about Iris van Herpen’s futuristic Haute Couture Spring 2013 collection?

Chanel’s Haute Couture Spring 2013 collection  consists largely of tweed dresses and suits but also has its fair share of gowns, dresses in lace, sequins and feathers. The show was set in an artificial forest as the models walked the runway/path among trees and greenery.

The show opened with a number of tweed pieces in white and pale pink and blue. Most of them featured various kinds of details that accentuated the shoulders. Karl Lagerfeld shared that:

The idea is to make the shoulders beautiful.

The tweed dresses and skirt suits feature revers and other details that are wrapping the shoulders like scarves or simply placing focus on them. Some of the other outfits bare them in off-the-shoulder styles.

After the tweed lace takes rein being featured not only in dresses but also the footwear. Overlaid with floral lace the dresses also feature shoulder accents. There are several suits with skirts and wide leg trousers that feature navy lace over white fabric. Sequins are introduced through evening wear and numerous dresses that also feature floral patterns and decorations.

The floor-legnth gowns feature off-the-shoulder details as well as a strong floral theme that translates into the voluminous floral decorations and printed fabrics. 3D flower details seem to be a couture trend this season as they can be seen in Christian Dior and Giambattista Valli collection as well.

The beautiful lace and tulle get feather treatment by the end of the collection. Mesmerizing white and pastel dresses feature mullet skirts or a feather shoulder shrug. The pale blue and pink dresses are accessorized with long leather gloves and boots creating a contrast. The two other white feather dresses are paired with wispy lace footwear.

The closing number of the show were the two models in similar white gowns who walked holding hands which prompted the speculation upon the show’s message.

Lagerfeld was asked if he used the show to support gay marriage to what the designer answered: “Of course it was.”

I don’t even understand the debate. Since 1904 (in France) the church and state have been separate.

The designer elaborated that those who value traditions can continue tying knots in their religious temples while staying tolerant to same-sex couples.

Karl Lagerfeld went on to reveal that he’s opposed to the idea of same sex couples having kids through artificial insemination.

Giambattista Valli is another designer who presented his work during haute couture Paris Fashion Week. The monochrome styles were dominating the runway with the pink and yellow pieces creeping in towards the closing of the show. The line includes short, midi, and long dresses sometimes paired with the pants (seem as this trend lives on).

The collection opens up with a beautiful monochrome printed coat dress with a tulip skirt that ends mid-calf. The animal prints are used subtly throughout the collection overlaid with tulle or just used sparsely in one outfit. In other outfits two different leopard-printed fabrics are combined which creates an unusual look.

Beside prints the designer used fabrics to create dramatic forms and shapes in the dresses which sometimes resulted in such dramatic theatrical pieces like the example above. The voluminous mullet skirt features tulle underskirt and is paired with a white top decorated with a black croc applique.

Other patterns include a fishnet-like fabric that was also used in several looksk. One of them is a strapless assymetrical mullet dress paired with sheer trousers made from same fishnet fabric. Another dress is made of sheer patterned fabric featuring a draped skirt and long sleeves.

More Spring-like colors like light pink and bright yellow as well as white were used to create very feminine beautiful pieces, mostly dresses. Decorated with voluminous flower details and appliques these dresses are ultra-feminine and very Spring-like.

The designs vary from full skirt midi dresses to short long-sleeved numbers, short cape-like decorated frocks and finally amazing ball gowns. There are also a couple of skirt suits that include textured skirts and printed blazers.

The dramatic collection includes some wearable pieces too like the midi summer dresses, flowing maxi dresses that can be worn with the pants and the short long-sleeved numbers that are well worthy of the red carpet as well as a party.

Christian Dior’s Raf Simons presented his second haute couture collection during Paris Fashion Week and it’s been received well. The designer introduced trouser suits from his former collection. Overall there are more trouser ensembles in the collection and, of course, Dior’s signature full skirts. The line starts with a few strapless full skirt dresses and then reveals several black suits further mixing the skirts, the trousers and the feminine floral details.

The collection is full of dresses for cocktails and evenings, decorated with tiny little flowers, beads, and fabric decorations. The silhouettes were very Dior but with a touch of shapelessness echoing from the RTW Spring 2013 collection.

Pant ensembles weren’t limited to suits only. There were also tailored pleat pants in bright as well as neutral colors paired with peplum or strapless corset-like tops. The tops were also decorated with fabric flowers and petals.

The ensembles also included small graphic shrugs that were worn over the strapless tops often in same floral pattern or motif. This gave the outfits a more structured look.

Some of the pieces were constructed of several details like this ensemble with a bright yellow bolero, two-toned pencil skirt and a peplum top making for a complex outfit. Other such pieces also feature different fabrics constructed together in architectural pieces.

Evening gowns were the continuation of midi full skirt dresses. The designs were strapless, some dresses showed a bit less to no embroidery but rather focused on the shape and the draping. The strapless creations featured voluminous skirts at the hemlines and small beads or sheer wispy tulle.

A string of full skirt dresses loose-fitting dresses came along strapless peplum-decorated frocks that were all embroidered with little flowers, floral pattenrs, and bead work.

The collection has some great pieces, mostly among pants and short dresses. What do you think about it?

The collection which started from a pair of trousers, a floral top and a cape turned into a fantastic parade of luxurious designs. There were black cocktail dresses with colorful flowers adorning them, sequined jumpsuits, bright lace dresses, elegant skirt suits and loads of sumptuous evening gowns.

The dress which I liked the most in Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2012 Haute Couture range was the purple ballgown with a lace top. I can almost see it on someone like Jennifer Lopez or Kate Beckinsale. What do you think? Which dress do you like?

Dresses were made with floral prints of incredible beauty in deep green, wine, burgundy and red colors. Coming in unusual but very interesting shapes, every item in Giambattista Valli’s Fall 2012 Haute Couture collection looked unique and luxurious. Here were dresses created with the use of lace and frills, large pleats and feathers imitating grass and leaves.

Fabrics are worth special mentioning. And although we can’t identify the technique they were made with, these are definitely pricey and time consuming as the result is terrific.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2012 Haute Couture collection is dark but it is also chic and very unusual. There is a little cabaret, pin up, baroque and mysticism. Models strut the runway in luxurious floor-length gowns made of unique shining fabrics, dyed fur coats, super high-waisted pants teamed with cropped corsets, sheer jumpsuits and dresses with elaborate embroidery as well as frocks with colored fringe.

Accessory line is even more interesting. There are top hats in a variety of tones, gloves which reach models’ elbows, suede belts and metallic necklaces in shape of a collar, and hair pieces which come with nets that cover the head. Shoes also surprised. Coming with huge platforms they either featured knee-length criss-cross detail or the one that barely touched the ankles. See the entire collection below:
