M’oda ‘Operandi Designer Punk Collection

Designer Punk collection by M’oda ‘Operandi is here and it rocks. There are pieces from more numerous famous designers and brands and a whole lookbook of punk-inspired outfits from Balmain, Givenchy, Moschino, Thom Browne, Rodarte, Eddie Borgo, Vivienne Westwood, Zana Bayne, Tripp NYC, Preen, Any Old Iron, Vhernier, Prabal Gurung, and New York Vintage.

The collection is rather luxurious and diverse. There is a clothing line full of cool tees and tops with various designs, logos and Union Jacks. There is a stylish leather biker jacket from Balmain, and a leather studded top from Givenchy. Rounding out the leather pieces are a pleated leather Givenchy skirt and Balmain leather biker pants.

You can also find a few dresses in the collection by Rodarte, Hussein Chalayan, Givenchy, Balmain, Vivienne Westwood and Preen. A few of them come in plaid and checks. Rodarte dresses come with studded collars and metallic stars and sequins.

Jewelry pieces come from such renowned brands as Fred Leighton, Stephen Russell, and Tom Binns. In the jewelry range there are statement necklaces, diamond rings, spiked bracelets, drop earrings and safety pins in various forms. The prices range from modest $85 for a Due Punti silicon ring to whopping 285,000 for a Stephen Russell 19th century diamond corsage brooch.

Accessories are very diverse in the Punk collection. There are bags, shoes, headpieces, gloves, harnesses, a belt, a floral veil and even a helmet. Charlotte Olympia created a small collection of accessories embellished with safety pins to contribute to the line. Balmain presented lace-up leather boots, while Prabal Gurung contributed bold eyewear. In this range you will also find thematic Dr. Martens boots, mohawk headpieces, and Zana Bayne’s conical leather bra.

And even this is not all. There is art and objects line that includes a leather chandelier, temporary tattoos and a signed bass guitar. Jennifer Morris Fall 2013 Collection

The new Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook is very extravagant, to say the least: it includes little cute dresses, shapeless knee-length dresses and, of course, outerwear with distinguishable embellishments. The collection seems to avoid showing off any feminine curves, focusing on rectangular shapes and intriguing fabric combinations. It seems like Jennifer Morris is not afraid to experiment with different textures as well.

The lookbook features model Jenny Fisher with her fancy 1960′s hairstyle by Linnea Nordberg and makeup by Laura Lawson. Caught on lenses by photographer Eamonn McCabe, the lookbook catches the essence of the collection with its retro vibe in contemporary allure.

Jennifer Morris has studied Fashion Design at Edinburgh College of Art, and after that London College of Fashion, where she received her MA in Fashion Design and Technology in 2011. Her secret embroidery technique is hidden in her collaboration with an Indian manufacturer, from whom she learned about embroidery by hand. Moreover, fabric choices can be explained by her fascination with “tufting”. Tufting is her original technique of fusing different fabrics that sometimes don’t quite fit into one clothing piece. The technique has evolved later on with special embroidery embellishment.

Although having very few collections, starting from her MA collection for Spring/Summer 2012 to the latest, Jennifer Morris seems to progress with her aspirations and fashion ideas. The present lookbook shows her experimenting nature displaying her evolving style.

Dion Lee Fall/Winter 2013 Lookbook

Emerging designer Dion Lee, has presented a loolbook of her Fall/Winter 2013 collection full of structural designs and monochrome colors accented with beautiful sky blue color and prints in midnight blue.

The collection is more restrained than the designer’s Spring/Summer 2013 work but it is still quite eye-drawing. Strict silhouettes mixed with loose fit and feminine cuts contasted with menswear style make this collection cool and stylish. There are a couple of oversize pieces and, of course, leather.

There are also some fishnet items and details that add contrast to solid fabrics and leather. Sheer panels can also be seen in some of the items.

Dion Lee is no stranger to structural cut and design but this collection is much simpler and yet the designer manages to give edge to her looks while also made them more wearable.

There are a couple of strapless dresses that are a bit formal in cut but are great for wearing in the evening. There are structural asymmetric skirts paired with seemingly simple tops and a angled leather jackets.

Men’s style pants are a great office choice but add a structural top with sheer sleeves and midriff and it’s an amazing street style/special ocassion look.

Oversize, a hit trend of the past season, may not be as evident in Fall/Winter 2013 collections but it sure does linger in form of loose fit and shows in Dion Lee’s collection. The designer created an oversize jacket in black and a shorter one in sky blue with rounded shoulders and angled collars.

In her Spring 2013 collection Dion Lee used colors just as sparsely but when she did they were simply stunning and this range is based around that as well. The printed pieces include two dressed, a top and skirt ensemble and a separate skirt.

Styling in the lookbook is minimal and includes only a wide brimmed hat in black and white and men’s style shoes. What do you think about Dion Lee’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection?

Lindsey Wixson in ZAC Zac Posen Fall 2013 Lookbook

ZAC Zac Posen is a new mid-priced line from designer Zac Posen who already has a diffusion range called Z Spoke. This new fashion line is focused more on fabric quality, which designer says, allows variety in clothes. Looking at the Fall 2013 lookbook featuring model Lindsey Wixson the first time little difference shows between two diffusion lines but ZAC Zac Posen does feature more dresses and evening options than a more casual Z Spoke.

The collection is full of autumnly shades but not the color palette is varied. There is teal, burgundy, purple, greens and bright red. There is also a shiny champaigne ensemble that definitely stands out thanks to beautiful silky fabric.

Besides mostly dresses that are good to wear in the day and night there is a biker croc leather jacket paired with a little black dress and a couple of coats. Some separates that can be mixed and matched include printed pants, top and blazer as well as a printed dress with a matching cardigan.

One of the stand out pieces is a sleveless coat dress paired with a lace-sleeved olive blouse that certainly draws attention and looks very interesting. Another one is rather a three-piece dark green lurex suit paired with same lace blouse.

A number of dresses allows choosing and switching between day, evening and night. There is an absolutely stunning burgundy dress with a plunging neckline and a satin sash and a formal and enchanting green dress with a criss cross neck and draped waist. Also one of the coats features very wide sleeves that add an interesting touch to a regular gray coat.

The prices will vary from $500 to $1,600 and the collection will be available at Saks, Intermix and Neiman Marcus.

Despite pregnancy, Sarah Burton presented the McQ by Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 lookbook that features a range of gorgeous pieces, which will definitely make your imagination work. As usual Alexander McQueen fashion brand stays true to its edgy and dramatic aesthetics that won’t let you remain unnoticed.

A model Maria Bradley was chosen to flaunt this gorgeous collection. Her a bit severe appearance along with the sleek hairstyle and heavy gaze match this clothing range the best possible way. She demonstrates an array of flawlessly tailored double breasted jackets, brilliant trousers and coats with the trendy military feel, all made in classy shades of gray, black and red. This is a great example of how to wear the hottest prints in hottest colors and look stylish and fashionable. Stylist Zeina Esmail chose perfectly matching items from different designer collections and completed them with statement accessories that also feature various patterns.

Checks & Stripes

Checks and stripes are easily matched and can be fun but also quite elegant. Just look at the outfit with Louis Vuitton top and a striped maxi skirt. Another great example, is a checked Louis Vuitton dress with 3/4 sleeves worn over red and white striped shirt with longer sleeves.

Stripes on stripes is a great combination. If you are unsure what other print to mix with stripes, just take different stripes and you’ll get the look of mixed prints without much hassle. Just be sure different stripes look good together and that’s it.

Black, White, And…Red

The best color to jazz up monochrome outfit with is red. It’s also classic and even small red accents add much to the look. You can also experiment with other accent colors if you think black and white to be too bland. It can be a trendy cobalt blue, emerald green or bright sunny yellow.

Rayne’s hair adds another detail to the look. Clean retro bowl cut by Greg Wencel suits the geometric extravaganza perfectly as well as adds a touch of femininity thanks to gentle rather than straight lines. RED Valentino Fall/ Winter 2013

Youth brand Red Valentino has presented a new intriguing fashion collection for Fall/ Winter 2013. The new line is full of folklore, flirty-girl looks and some “Grimm” mystique, which referrs to the inspiration for the new collection. Let’s take a closer look at this marvelous Fall/ Winter clothing line by Red Valentino.

We haven’t yet got accustomed to the recent Spring/ Summer 2013 pre-collection from Red Valentino as they give us some more awing outfit pieces to marvel. The new stunning collection is full of sober and folklore-inspired pieces suitable for the colder months in Fall. The inspiration for this collection came from Grimm fairytales, especially the tale about Hansel and Gretel.

This “Grimm” fascination is obvious in numerous patterns and embellishments. There are lots of details that will catch the attention from a passersby: large extravagant floral prints, unique textured fabric and of course, the most obvious – the peculiar designs.

There are mostly outerwear pieces, which will be perfect for mid-fall. The outerwear is specifically designed for youth, as indicated by length and cut, which are very feminine and flirty. Apart from cute coats, there are also dresses perfect for early Winter.

The designs of the dresses are pretty similar to each other, however, what distinguishes them from one another is a print or a pattern. The patterns and prints in this collection are exquisite, to say the least: there are flower prints, reminiscent of Russian dolls, then there are classy blue and black checkers. Then we see a large rose embellishment against the dark blue or beige background of a classy pant suit or a flirty little dress. The Fall / Winter collection is very lovely with a hint of German folklore, taking inspiration in the imaginary world of fairy tales: outfits to fall in love with!

Alice + Olivia Lookbook fo Fall/ Winter 2013

First of all it is the color contrasts that are brought into attention, when viewing the new lookbook of Alice + Olivia for Fall/ Winter 2013. There are touchy dark romantic black and reds, then we can see sensual deep forest green and rich copper, invisible grey, dramatic cobalt and white combinations, along with many details and accents.

One of the things, that can’t get unnoticed is the role of fur, which  presents in the collection, but is not highlighted. These luxurious fur pieces, which are not classy in any way, but instead are very bold and daring, make the collection stand out from the previous works of Alice + Olivia.

The Fall / Winter collection was showcased during the New York Fashion Week and is inspired by the Paris street style, as envisioned by Stacey Bendet, the designer behind the brand:

“This is a fantasy street style from the streets of Paris girls that look really cool in the afternoon”

Despite the collection’s bold look, it is very feminine and romantic. There are a lot of dresses, skirts and amazing pants, which highlight the feminine curves. There are also many outerwear pieces, such as jackets, coats and the mentioned above fur coats.

Among other highlights from the collection are the embellishment and accents. There are lots of prints, both geometrical and animalistic, and as well as hip in the Spring season floral prints! There are also embroidery and lace, as well as many accessories, that make the looks flawless.

Winter 2014 Lookbook by Dora Abodi

Hungarian-born designer Dora Abodi  has presented the new luxurious collection for Fall/Winter 2013-2014. It is quite surprising and very heavy on golden prints. In Abodi’s Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook we can also see her fascination with details and heavy textures. There are a lot of different patterns, which are mostly exquisite and elegant. Following the dark color trend for the cold season, Abodi opted for dark palettes, infusing them with rich prints and outrageous details.

Most of the pieces present the warm outerwear for autumn, and with few occasional dresses, but in the signature style of Dora Abodi, which she has chosen for Fall/Winter 2013.

Dora Abodi has started out her fashion designing career in 2009, but her artistic aspirations started long before that. Back in her childhood she used to spend hours in her parent’s art studio, where she contemplated on her life as a world traveler and a wildlife observer.

However, she got fascinated with fashion industry to the point, where she would study patternmaking, classical tailoring and garment construction in French Mod’art International Art and Fashion Academy, which she has completed with honors in 2009.

Her amazing designs have been showcased during various fashion events and in 2010 she received a Hungarian Fashion Award as well as the first prize of Design am Rheine designer contest of the Düsseldorf Fashion Academy. Last year she won Women of the Year – best designer prize of Glamour magazine. Her recent collection is mostly inspired by the ancient cultures; particularly it shows her fascination with Byzantine.

As a rule each fashion designer is distinguished by his or her own signature style, which makes their clothes recognizable. The same thing works for Alannah Hill, who never disappoints with her clothing collections. As for this Fall/Winter 2013 collection – it features bold hues, soft lace, abundance of floral prints and all of that with the vintage feel. This collection like many of the previous ones delivers the designer’s aesthetics in a unique and sophisticated way.

This bold and chic collection features original designs that were influenced by the 60’s fashion, and bright hues like raspberry pink, yellow, red, green, baby blue, corral red as well as the classic black. As for prints, there is an abundance of them in this collection like polka dot, florals, and checkers.

Sheath dress with a rose print, which was complemented with black accessories, has a contemporary feel with a conservative note. It is a versatile garment that could be worn either to the office and to the evening outing. In the meantime, my other favorites in this collection are the bright-colored 60’s-style coats with cropped silhouettes.

The rest of thecollection includes such garmeents as pencil skirts, cropped jackets, skater skirts, bodycon dresses, miniskirts, shirts and others. Each look is accessorized with beautiful headpieces including the ones with the fake flowers, bows, kerchiefs and playful berets as well as with textile and leather gloves, bow ankle boots, clutches, handbags, statement necklaces and bright stockings.
