Sunglasses are an essential accessory because they are not only good at protecting your eyes from the bright sun but also at adding style to your look.

Colored/Transparent Frames

Colored and transparent frames are great for adding a splash of color to a monochrome look. The shades spotted on runways come in yellow, green, red as well as white. There are also many brown shades in matching frames that have a very classic feel to them.

The shapes vary from small rounded to wayfarer types. More sporty variations can be found in Louis Vuitton and Salvatore Ferragamo collections.

Handbags

Handbags take a more important place in modern man’s wardrobe than they used to. Choose between a holdall, a clutch or a document file bag this season to accessorize your look and add a splash of color to it.

Holdalls

Holdalls are great spacious bags that come in both sporty and classic styles. Made of textile or leather these bags feature handles and sometimes also a strap to carry them on a shoulder. Choose between more sporty designs of Diesel Black Gold and John Vartvatos and classic ones of Canali and Giorgio Armani.

Clutches

Clutches are held in hands and come in such different forms and shapes – from envelope to a document folder where you can keep all the necessary work docs and carry them to the office instead of taking a whole suitcase with you. Although the latter also appeared in some collections.

Backpacks

Backpacks were seen in many summer collections. They are convenient but can also be stylish. Think leather, interesting shapes and punchy colors. Louis Vuitton offers an ultmiate luxury sports backpack with an external pocket in croc leather.

Headwear

Headwear is also functional in summer but can add a unique touch to your look. Think light summer hats with simple styling paired with bright patterned neck scarves and light summer suits or trouser ensembles.

Summer Fedora

Summer fedora and wide-brimmed hats spotted at Acne, Canali and Jogn Varvatos are great for wearing both to the office and the beach. Opt for wide-brimmed hats when going on vacation and use a light summer fedora to top off your offce suit.

Paperboy Cap

A paperboy cap is a great alternative to a brimmed hat if you want a more casual look. Designers offer to wear it with a light neck scarf in one tone with the cap or blazer. Speaking of scarves they can be used in summer instead of ties as they finish off the outfits but also look more laid back. They are easy to tie and wear with anything from a suit to everyday clothes.

Jewelry

Bracelets are getting more popular and thus there are many more variations of them. Look for designs that suit your style and taste. Gucci offer a subtle leather bracelet embellished with a chain while in collection by DSquared2 you can find bolder variants. Necklaces should be long and bold this season. There are some great designs in Diesel Black Gold and DSquared2 collections while Ann Demeulemeester showed thick chains intertwined with ribbons and thinner chains.

Take some time to figure out what accessories work for you and what designs you like the most. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the accessories as they add detail and complete your outfits.

Spring/Summer 2013 Bag Trends

Mini bags

Mini bags are a big trend for Spring/Summer 2013. Offered in various shapes and styles mini bags can be worn on a wrist, behind a back or carried by handles. Diane Von Furstenberg showed whimsical bags at her show, while at Louis Vuitton they were of classic shapes and playful checkered patterns.

Totes

Totes are cool and casual. They come in a variety of materials and sizes. Prada and Rochas offer smaller totes while Mulberry featured a leather scalloped tote with chain handles.

Clutches

Clutches come in such wide variety of finishes, sizes, and styles. There are mini clutches and oversize clutches, metallic clutches and reptile clutches, odd-shaped clutches and geometric hard case clutches.

There are also folding clutches as seen at Victoria Beckham, Reed Krakoff, Carolina Herrera, Hermes, and many other designer shows.

Metallic clutches were spotted at Victoria Beckham, Viktor & Rolf, Dries Van Noten. At Fendi the metallic clutch was covered entirely with sequins.

Odd-shaped clutches were spotted at Ralph Lauren, Sportmax, Giamfranco Ferre and at a number of other designer shows.

And there are clutches that come in various prints and patterns as well as with embellishments like studs, rhinestones, beads, fringe and other.

Backpacks

Backpacks were spotted at several shows. DKNY and Versus offer sporty backpacks while Hermes created a luxury leather backpack with stiffer form and minimalist design.

Reptile Skins

Reptile skins were also all over the runway. From textured croc leather bags at Botega Venetta and Elie Saab to snakeskin and python at Giamfranco Ferre, Gucci, and Giorgio Armani.

Prints & Patterns

Prints and patterns in Spring/Summer 2013 handbags range from summer-y florals to playful checkers at Louis Vuitton, to stripes at Mochino. At Guy Laroche and other shows the handbag prints matched the clothes.

Laset Cut

Laser cut patterns in bags were seen at Alexader McQueen where the bags were designed in a honeycomb pattern, at Ralph Lauren where the leather bag was cut in floral pattern and at Mulberry where the bag was perforated.

Sack Bags

Sack bags are also a big trend the next season. They come in a variety of finishes and shapes thanks to hardcase parts. At Alexander Wang models carried a sack bag with a square-shaped body and at Giorgio Armani the bags were spotted in a round shape.

Creative Handles

Creative handles in bags were seen at Chanel where the models carried a hula hoop beach bag and a minimized version of it, and at Acne where the bag had telephone cable handles. Chain handles were spotted at a number of shows including Tory Burch and Miu Miu.

Odd-Shaped Bags

Odd-shaped bags were all over the place at Spring 2013 Fashion Week. At Balenciaga and Holly Fulton bags have a rounded shape while Giorgio Armani went with an architectural aesthetic. Lavin created a small bag shaped as a perfume bottle while Peter Plein decorated his small spheric bag with spikes. Alberta Ferretti showed fuzzy small bags.

Transparent Bags

Transparent bags are a big trend for Spring/Summer 2013. They were spotted at Jenny Packham, Valentino, Burberry Prorsum, Holly Fulton and other shows. The clutches also come in clear designs as spotted at Stella McCartney and Gucci.

Simone Rocha went for a clear shopper with camel handles and perforated scalloped edges. Other transparent bags featured such decorations as metal details and frames, rhinestones and pyramids.

There are also colorful transparent clutches and bags featured in purple, green, red, yellow, and other colors. These were spotted at Burberry Prorsum and Gucci. Stella McCartney also created faceted clear clutches in different colors.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trendy Sunglasses

Round Shape

Round sunglasses were all over the Spring/Summer 2013 runway. Small, medium and big round sunglasses have been spotted at Acne, Holly Fulton, Jil Sander, Matthew Williamson, Mara Hoffman and other shows.

The frames differ in colors and come with lighter and darker glass. The round shape can be quite flattering but at the same time hard to pull off. Try different size shades to choose the ones that will flatter you.

Odd Shapes

Odd-shaped glasses are a big hit the upcoming season. Fendi, Versace, and Angelo Marani offer multifaceted glasses in different bright colors and two-toned frames. They are interesting, a bit futuristic and definitely eye catchy.

Marni, Prabal Gurung, and Alberta Ferretti also showed some really cool shades that come in unconventional shapes and feature interesting frame design. Prabal Gurung sunglasses have an interesting metal frame and angled shape.

Odd-shaped sunglasses can make fashion statement in any look. Wear them with a voluminous mane, sleeked hair, or bright lips. Choose the color of frame according to your wardrobe.

Cat Eye

Cat eye shades are a continuing trend. Spotted at Alice + Olivia, Jason Wu, Anna Sui, Erdem, Rachel Roy cat sunglasses come in variety designs. At Anna Sui the frames were decorated with plastic flowers (See Decorated Frames).

At Erdem the cat sunglasses came in a creative metallic triple frame and with the green shades.

Mirror Shades

Mirror shades are also ‘in’ for the season. These also come in different colors, shapes and sizes. At Giles there were big round shades with colorful mirror glass, while at Burberry Prorsum the sunglasses’ frames matched the mirror color.

At Just Cavalli the shades were medium size in red color. The designers opted to accessorize the look with the bright lip.

Protective Eyewear

One of the interesting eyewear trends is shades that look like protective glasses. Michael Kors went for big red shades, while at Milly by Michelle Smith show models sported transparent protective eyewear with neon yellow eyeliner.

Tracy Reese went for a rounded shape and dark frame for her protective eyewear.

Big Shades

Jacky O’s, big rounded and square shades were also spotted during Spring/Summer 2013 fashion shows. At Rebecca Minkoff models wore two-toned silver and black bold shades. At Marni there were rounded square two-toned shades.

Gucci also went for big glasses matching the frame color to the color of clothes.

Interesting Frames

Interesting frame shapes and designs were all over the place. At House of Holland shades were round with patterned frames. Carven created abolutely fantastic goggles that are both futuristic and stylish.

Calla decorated their cat eye frames that hold only a half of the glass. Just like odd-shaped goggles these frames are likely to make fashion statement and enhance your summer look.

Decorated Frames

Decorated frames all the way. At Prada sunglasses were decorated with the plastic flowers that echoed the collection as were frames at Anna Sui show. At Roberto Cavalli decorated frames were taken to a new level featuring elaborate metallic embellishments.

Patterned frames will also be a thing in Spring/Summer 2012. Stella McCartney and Alice + Olivia offer animal printed frames. Tory Burch and Felder Felder created specs in arty patterend frames.

Hat Trends for Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013

Hat Trend #1: Fur hats
You may think that fur is quite predictable when it comes to winter fashion, and of course you will be right. But no one can deny that fur (either genuine or fake) is beautiful and luxurious which makes it popular with women of all ages and fashion tastes. This and some other factors known to designers only have predetermined the fact fur hats will be a great hit during the Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 season.

Fur hats of the Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 fashion season come in a variety of colors. There are hats in dark and neutral tones which are similar to natural fur shades, or bright and eccentric hues which are designed to attract attention.

Shapes will differ as well. You can try huge mounted hats like in Marc Jacobs’ Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 range or smaller and more elegant Russian-style fur hats like in Temperley London’s collection.

How to wear: Fur hats are quite versatile when it comes to wearability. You don’t have to be travelling to the Antarctic region to wear them. There are almost no restrictions. You can wear fur hats with leather pants, jeans, velvet skirts or prints, with nearly any style of clothing and footwear. For inspiration look at Issa and Rachel Zoe’s collections.

Hat Trend #2: Cowboy Hats
Western style is not very popular with fashionistas. We do love cowboy boots and shirts sometimes, but that is usually all. However, cowboy hats are going to play a significant role in the new fashion season.

How to wear: Wear your cowboy hat with a cropped jacket and leather gloves, any outfits with zippers will also work. Opt for brighter colors and edgy accessories.

Where to where: Of course cowboy hat will look ridiculous on your way to office but it will be just right at a music festival or a road trip across the country.

Hat Trend #3: Cloche hats
Cloche hats are super feminine. They have come to us from the 1920s and brought elegance and sophistication our fashion era lacks. We all admire gender bending fashion now but returning to our true selves is always good.

How to wear: Wear a cloche hat with womanly dresses, skirt suits, trench coats and chic coats. Add court shoes and classic high boots as well as a pair of leather gloves to your outfit to look smart.

Where to wear: Cloche hats look best at holiday parties and weddings but can be as appropriate at cocktail parties and unofficial gatherings.

Hat Trend #4: Fedora hats
Fedora hats are probably the most versatile hats ever invented. First designed for men in the 19th century, now fedoras are unisex and can be worn with everything.

How to wear: Fedora hats look great with any kind of clothing. They can look feminine if you wear a printed dress or they can look androgynous when you are in trousers and a shirt.

Where to wear: Anywhere, any occasion and any place. Fedoras are always appropriate and look good on anyone.

Hat Trend #5: Top Hats
It may sound surprising but top hats will also be trendy during the Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 fashion season. The hats, which in previous decades were worn only as accessories for drama costumes, have made their way to modern fashion and can be seen both on the runway and in streets.

How and where to wear: Top hats are hardly versatile but they will be just in place at the opera or a themed party. You can also experiment with wearing it to a street, but in this case make sure the focus is on the hat and nothing distracts from it. Don’t wear a tuxedo with a top hat.

Hat Trend #5: Gaucho hats
If top hats are hard to pull off, you will have no problem in using a gaucho hat to complement your look. Gaucho hats are stylish and exquisite, and they are incredibly feminine, too.

How and where to wear: Gaucho hats are not normally worn in streets and are more preferred to be donned to polo racing events or occasions similar to those. However, every new season brings new rules and that means during Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 season you can wear your gaucho hat in a few different ways. Designers pair gaucho hats with strapless cocktail dresses and austere trouser suits. But you can always try something bolder.

Fur Bags. They are not very practical and are hardly versatile but no one can deny fur bags look luxurious, and that’s what many of us would give everything for.
