It is often said that men do not take care of their footwear and as a result it looks scruffy. I guess these are women who say that.
Of course it is not true. I know plenty of men whose shoes look wonderful: they are perfectly chosen to match the garments and as clean as it is possible.
On the contrary, there many women who don’t even know what is fashionable in this or that season and they are completely unaware of how to select shoes to create the right image.
However, both men and women can be divided into those who are obsessed about shoes and those who don’t matter much what to wear.
Men are generally in the latter group and feel good about wearing two or three pairs of shoes for all occasions imaginable.
Probably it is Ok for them but I think men should know how to choose shoes to look good. First of all I’d like to give you some common rules concerning your shoes.
- Prefer the shoes that match or are a bit darker than your pants.
- Socks do not need to match your shoes. They are just items that can bring the whole outfit together.
- When you wear a belt, try to match your shoes to it.
And here are the must-have shoes in your wardrobe. Read carefully and find out whether you have pairs of that kind or not. In case you don’t, think of the idea to buy them.
Work Shoes
Of course you work, and depending on your job you have to wear certain type of shoes.
If you are an office worker it’s quite clear what you need to wear. If you work outdoors and have to stand up or walk a lot you better choose something more casual and comfortable. Work shoes or boots should be sturdy and of high quality so you are not afraid they can fall apart during the workday.
Dress Shoes
Dress shoes should look very well. They must be like the ones you might wear with a suit. Select shinier materials, less bulky heels and soles.
The best dress shoes for men should be simple and well-matched to your clothing. Be sure to carefully match your dress shoes to your pants, shirt, and jacket.
If your clothing is gray, black, or blue, opt for black or dark gray shoes. Earth-toned clothing goes well with brown or tan dress shoes.
Casual Shoes
Casual shoes are comfortable, but are sleeker and more professional than sneakers.
Consider loafers, chinos, khakis or lace-up shoes in black or brown, which are versatile and wearable with most outfits.
A tassle and a buckle are a little more on the dressy side, whilst a woven pattern or heavy stitching is a little more on the casual side.
Men’s Shoes for Jeans
Nearly any color or style of shoe can be worn with jeans, but steer clear of too shiny shoes that are obviously intended for more dressier clothing.
Boots, lug soles, sneakers, loafers and sandals – all work great with jeans. Your shirt is to guide you in choosing the shoe style for the jeans. For instance – a sporty, polo shirt will work with a loafer; t-shirts look well with sneakers or retro-style shoes; long, artsy button-downs go well with sandals or oxford styles.
Athletic Shoes
With men’s great obsession with sports and healthy lifestyle owning athletic shoes is essential. The best athletic shoes for men are those which are comfortable and supportive.
Choose the shoes that are specifically designed for the type of activity you practise. For example, don’t wear basketball shoes if you are going to be running or jogging.
Shoes must be carefully chosen as they play huge role in your image. You may wear perfect clothes but in case your shoes are bad, the whole impression is spoilt.
So, dear men, pay more attention to your footwear and all women’s eyes will certainly be drawn to you!
