Nicholas Kirkwood’s inspiration for his Spring/ Summer 2012 shoe collection were the florals and tropical brights. Being on a vacation on Bali in August the designer realized he wanted to do something less edgy and aggressive. What he wanted were the softer hues, delicate patterns and comfier designs.
Nicholas Kirkwood commented:
[It] was my first holiday since starting the business seven years ago. And I came back wanting to do something more colorful and a little softer than before.”
The collection is indeed much softer than Nicholas Kirkwood’s previous ranges. It includes a variety of styles featuring sexy pumps, sandals with chunky heels and very comfortable flats.
Despite the fact Nicholas Kirkwood liked the new twist in his Spring/ Summer 2012 shoe collection I wasn’t that much impressed. I came to know the designer for his deep colors and daring shapes. And I still like him for that. I hope it was just a short break in his job, simply a more relaxed approach to work. And I do hope that he soon returns to that great energy he used to put into his creations which made me a true fan of his.
