Karl Lagerfeld always brings something new to his Chanel collections, something neither he nor other designers have done before. He always surprises us but not always makes us want to buy his designs. To tell you the truth the last two ranges disappointed me. Pieces were interesting and edgy but there were just a few items that really impressed. However, Karl’s Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 collection was different and wonderful.

First of all the Chanel designer brought the color back. We could see purple, green, red, mustard and blue hues alongside grey and black tones. Second, he created new shapes – the angular cubist sleeves – which co-existed perfectly with X-form coats and dresses. And he used three-piece-suits– jacket, skirt, and pants – which we had seen before but they were less attractive then.

Balloon pants looked weird as did the color-blocked dresses but printed snoods and coats embellished with bright colorful buttons and cubist (there were lots of cubist influence in Chanel fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 collection) elements, that reminded me of spaceships for some reason, were amazing.

Chanel accessories were great, too. Fingerless elbow-length gloves, huge necklaces which seemed to be made of metal, interesting bracelets and belts would fit our wardrobes quite easily. One more thing to mention – those crystal-beaded strips which were attached to models’ brows were terrific but detracted attention from the collection itself.
