There were doubts this show would have taken place because of the scandal with its former creative director John Galliano. Fortunately, Christian Dior CEO Sidney Toledano decided it would have been unfair to deprive customers and admirers of the brand of the opportunity to see the Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection.
Galliano was not invited since his era in Christian Dior ended so disgracefully. Besides, Toledano appeared on the stage before the show and spoke to the audience about the values that Christian Dior has represented for more than six decades. He also mentioned how egregiously these values were flouted recently without naming the person to blame for that. The lengthy speech finished with the assertion of the fact the brand would continue to be upheld by “the heart of the House of Dior, which beats unseen… made up of its teams and studios, of its seamstresses and craftsmen.”
Then the grandiose show of Christian Dior started. A flow of beautiful models dressed in luxury outfits made the people watching forget about all what was said before. The designs were fabulous because no matter what, John Galliano was a genius.
Christian Dior Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 unveiled during Paris Fashion Week could be roughly divided into two main parts. The first included warm chic clothing every fashionista would like to wrap into to protect herself from winter storms, and the second, that was airy and ethereal, with plenty of dresses red-carpet-ready.
Floor-length capes, large classic hats, stylish breeches, and thigh-high laced boots presented in Christian Dior Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection were just perfect – elegant and sophisticated. Coats trimmed with fur looked fantastic. And bright cardigans peeped from under the those coats added glamour to the looks.
The light chiffon and silk dresses showcased in the second part of Christian Dior Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 range didn’t seem to fit to the colder seasons weather but they would be ideal for special occasions. Decorated with pleats, frills, and ribbon belts the frocks looked amazing. The dress that totally won my heart was the grey tank mini adorned with rich embroidery and gathered with a delicate ribbon at the bottom.
