It has probably been the first time in my life that admired something inspired by lava and volcanic stones (things I’m naturally horrified of). Monique Lhuillier’s Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 range was created with these in mind. And you know what? The result is amazing!

Dresses, which are Monique Lhuillier’s signature pieces, came in bright red (some flaming red and some are darker) and black colors, with ideal drapery and in smooth shapes. One gown (the strapless one with a heart neckline and a long split on the leg) was draped so cleverly that fabric imitated lava flowing down to the floor. It looked mesmerizing.

A number of dresses in Monique Lhuillier’s Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 collection came with prints – dark but expressive – which helped to complement the picture of apocalypses that could be waiting for us in future. But there was nothing scary about it. On the contrary, it looked beautiful. (People are weird living beings. We often admire things which can be life-threatening.)

One more thing to add, Monique Lhuillier no longer focuses on dresses only. Her Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 collection also included a number of glitzy jackets, skinny pants and sexy blouses.
