The two things are certain about Olivier Rousteing’s fashion- the original approach to the style and the power of his beliefs and the latest fall winter 2013-2014 show was the clear example of these two features, which are expressed through the bold shoulders and power hips, which allow creating the strong and sophisticated looks.
In fact, the designer continued the tendency of the previous season, which was characterized by the eighties-inspired shoulders and hourglass reminiscent proportions. Besides, the Glam Rock style was also revived by the talented designer as the collection features the garments in the glam rock style like the quilted metallic jackets in the neon pink, silver and gold.
The waist areas were embellished with the stunning belts, which remind of the ones worn by the wrestlers, and with the baggy harem hybrids below them. In other cases, they were replaced with the voluminous cocktail skirts and sophisticated jumpsuits, where the latter are teamed with the square-sleeved blazer to reach the strong proportions, which are the signature element of Balmain timeless style.
Multifaceted surface of the diamond-like crystals and the metal embellished elements along with the slicked hairstyles and chandelier earrings were the signature elements of the collection, however that’s what makes these looks so strong and unique. Although some might find this collection to be monotonous since it cannot boast the variety of distinct silhouettes, seems like Rousteing wanted to cement the idea of the ideal womenswear for the coming season according to Balmain.
Frankly speaking I don’t consider this collection to be that similar to the previous ones since it delivers the statement garments that shout much louder and deliver more pathos of the Seventies and Eighties epochs and that’s what the Balmain brand is about- the original proportions and shimmery details.
