Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren from Viktor & Rolf are not those people who can get inspired by flowers or sunsets. They go a different way and find inspiration in things we can hardly consider as ones that can bring new ideas. Their Pre-Fall 2012 collection, which is unusually classy and elegant, was inspired by dolls (Horsting and Snoeren’s regular sources for inspiration) and Sigmund Freud, person who once described the sexual life of a woman as “a dark continent.”

The collection was showcased as a lookbook because the Viktor & Rolf designer duo believes fashion shows lack mystery.
They commented:
There’s such a lack of mystery in fashion now. This is our reaction to vulgarity. We imagined a modern Victorian woman, discreet, moody, rich, and luxurious.”

The designers, who understand that customers come to them to buy clothing that is a bit odd and unique, created their Pre-Fall 2012 collection for Viktor & Rolf focusing on special details such as super wide sleeves on a coat, extreme sheerness in an evening gown, huge handing down shoulders on a silk blouse, etc. But no matter how extravagant Viktor & Rolf pieces they always keep a touch of elegance that adds chic even to the most daring items.
