Christian Dior Resort 2011 Collection
It’s been the second Resort 2011 collection and unlike Chanel range it was unveiled in Shanghai, China. Despite the fact the presentation took place in the Celestial Empire there was nothing about the Chinese style of clothing. Rather, the line was inspired by the chic of sixties and the French New Wave.

John Galliano said:
I didn’t really want to do ‘China’ at all. Not only because I have done that, but because I didn’t think it was appropriate. I just thought it would be really fierce, really cool, to present le savoir faire français.”

What he got in the result was a perfect combination of ready-to-wear and couture fashion.
Christian Dior’s chief designer explained:
I was just trying to recapture that excitement that was happening at that time in Paris, which is very similar to what is happening in Shanghai today.”

The collection looks very pretty, feminine and luxurious. Expensive materials incorporated into chic outfits with plenty of tiny cute details gave unforgettable impression. But some garments were far from being womanly. For instance, a Jean-Paul Belmondo-inspired three-piece suit was a completely biyish apparel but it looked nice on the model and would probably look even better on someone like Rihanna or Christina Aguilera.

The focus of the collection was apparently on coquettish minidresses in candy colors adorned with bows. I loved those a lot!
