I really love Oscar de la Renta collections for their high class elegance and femininity. The designer knows how make a woman look good in his clothes. His fantastic silhouettes help us hide problem areas while they perfectly accentuate the assests. But despite all the good things we can say about De La Renta, he does need to bring some novelty into his creations. Not that we feel tired of good tailoring and interesting details, we just have already got used to them. We know what to expect, we know what the focus will be on. It becomes a bit boring.
Oscar de la Renta’s Resort/ Pre-Spring 2013 collection is very similar to his previous ranges. It is beautiful, stylish and sophisticated. Summer suits, lace dresses and lovely knee-length floral-printed frocks prevail in the range. The fresh idea is the tie-dye elements (Alberta Ferretti dedicated her entire Resort 2013 range to them!) which are scarce but interesting to look at.
Special attention should be given to luxurious evening gowns in Oscar de la Renta’s Resort/ pre-Spring 2013 collection. All of them are created for big occasions, and will look perfect on the red carpet in the near future. The green strapless one is the most attention-grabbing, even better than the closing gown worn by Lindsey Wixson.
