Red Valentino Spring/Summer 2014: Sophisticated and Peculiar
Red Valentino offered a gorgeous collection of bright and eye-catching pieces. A lady donning the items from this newest collection has no chances to stay unnoticed. She is young, confident and a bit mysterious. There is definitely something behind those elegant outfits, some of which even could be named preppy if it wasn’t for their outrageous length.
Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, the brand’s creative directors, seem to have chosen an immature and somewhat infantile lady as a muse of the collection. These super short dresses and predominant floral print along with the tutu skirts and ballerina flats actually draw an image of Nabokov’s Lolita in my mind. Don’t get me wrong, the line still looks pretty decent and wearable.
Despite the very obvious youth orientation, Red Valentino Spring/Summer 2014 collection looks incredibly elegant. It must be the peplum skirts and those collared and buttoned blazers that add that zest of sophistication to the line. Anyway, all the pieces would be a good match to both high heels or flats (as shown in this case). The color palette varies from a delicate cream and light lion to maize yellow and rose pink. Quite a range of shades for summer, isn’t it?
