I have never paid much attention to creations of Jenni Kayne, they seemed too plain to me. But her collection for Spring 2012 is simply remarkable. It is youthful, stylish and ideal for many occasions. The designer describes it as “proper, feminine dressing with a twist”. She says she had “the idea of a girl in the city going on her weekends to play tennis and hang out with her friends at the country club” in mind while working on her range.
What I find the most interesting about Jenni Kayne’s Spring 2012 collection is the use of pink – Barbie pink – which is usually hard to work with. A bit too much of it, and entire outfit looks too girlie or even vulgar. Jenni Kayne was able to balance it well. Her pink dress is the hit.
Jenni Kayne’s skirt suits look elegant as do some trouser suits. One of the jackets was color-blocked and that made it even more attractive.
What I disliked in Jenni Kayne’s Spring 2012 collection is the shoes. None of the pairs looked lovely to me. But for the brown back strap those shining silver stilettos would look great. And the flat sandals were too casual for such clothing, in my mind. What do you think?
