Carnations in a variety of bright colors created the atmosphere of beauty and friendliness at Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion show. Flowers were everywhere: growing out of the catwalk and on stunning dresses models were wearing.
The designer said the inspiration was not only the flower but lots of things:
Man meets machine meets mother earth, an army of petal, metal, print.”
Such an explanations leaves you with an impression of a chaos but there was nothing of this kind about the collection. Moreover, the range Mary Katrantzou designed for Spring/ Summer 2012 season was exquisite and totally chic.
While Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection featured various pieces including trouser suits, cropped bombers, treggings under skirts and other, dresses were obviously the focus. Cocktail dresses featured stiffened, sculpted shapes, incredible prints of flowers, birds, fish, etc. Besides, they came embroidered with stones and with fantastic trains that added glamour to them.

I absolutely love this collection as I think it’s very typically Katrantzou; you look at the pieces and you just know it’s her. Which I think is a fantastic skill for a designer to have because its such a great way of getting your name out there! If you can create something that encapsules you then you don’t really need to do much else.
