Creative people are often lonely and when they die they leave their fortunes and everything they had to people who used to help them and made their lives easier and more comfortable: assistants, housekeepers, gardeners, etc. They also leave money to their pets, those creatures who they genuinely loved. Designer Alexander McQueen, who committed suicide the day before his mother – the only person he was really close to – was to be buried, distributed his fortune between many, including dogs.
According to his testament, that has been revealed today, his siblings – three sisters and two brothers – received 250,000 pounds ($410,000) each. His two housekeepers were given 50,000 pounds ($82,000) each to his for their “long and faithful service.” Alexander McQueen’s godson, and each of his nieces and nephews got as much – 50,000 pounds ($82,000) each. And the same amount was bequeathed for the care of his dogs.
Besides, McQueen donated 100,000 pounds ($164,000) each to two charities that help animals — the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and Blue Cross sick animal center. And 100,000 pounds ($164,000) each were left to the London Buddhist Center and the Terrence Higgins Trust, the organization which promotes sexual health and safe sex practices.
Alexander McQueen didn’t forget to help his Sarabande charity. He asked that some money be used for scholarships at Central St. Martin’s in London, of which he was a graduate.
