Mini skirts predict prosperity… A crazy idea, isn’t it? However, there is at least one person who considers it absolutely true. It’s an American academic John L. Casti who wrote book titled Mood Matters: From Rising Skirt Lengths to the Collapse of World Powers.
John claims that all social features, including super short skirts and happy songs, indicate overall optimism of people and somehow can lead to improvements in political and economic spheres.
He writes:
All social events ranging from trends in pop music and art to the outcome of elections and even the rise and fall of great civilizations are biased by the attitudes a society holds to the future.”
When the ‘social mood’ is positive, events of an entirely different character tend to occur than when society is pessimistic. Most people think the outcome of elections causes the mood of the country to change. The opposite is true.”
And if we forget about all those political things and talk only about fashion… Can uplifted hemlines really change someone’s mood? Sure, they do.
First, girls feel fantastic when they see guys turning their heads to follow them. And guys feel great, too! Seeing a beautiful girl walking gracefully in a tiny skirt is always pleasant. And if all of us feel happy then we do better things and life gets more exciting and comfortable!

While it’s gratifying to have my book cited in this piece, I want to note that the line of causality given in the article suggesting that an event (raising of skirt lengths) can cause a shift in mood is totally the opposite from what’s argued in my book, MOOD MATTERS.
