Christopher Kane inspired by books
Christopher Kane has recently told where his inspiration comes from. It might sound odd but it’s books and movies that help him understand what he wants to create.

The Scottish designer explained:
I’m inspired by anything from people in the street to movies and music. I also love to look at books. I find visual inspiration the best because it really evokes you and makes you think of future collections or characters.
My inspiration can be very random until two weeks before the show – that’s when I start to see real samples and I can start to imagine a character from film or music.”
The designer, who was a consultant for the Versace Versus range which debuted at Milan Fashion Week this year, didn’t tell much about how he came up with the themes for his shows.
He said:
I can’t really give away too many of my secrets, but if I’m completely honest I always follow instincts and work to come up with something I love.
As mentioned before, I love film and you can really relate to characters in movies – how the dress and feel. Besides film I love art, music… anything that makes you think.”
