Diane von Furstenberg was impressed when she saw the first designs of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
The designer, who is the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, says she wanted to support young designers and when the twins showed her their creations she immediately decided to help them. Despite the fact many of the industry’s big names objected, Diane has never regretted her decision.
She said:
When I became president I wanted to create a support group for designers – young or old. Mary-Kate and Ashley take their fashion very seriously. I was very surprised when I saw their line. It’s very impressive.”
Mary-Kate Olsen claims she loves fashion so much that she sometimes has sleepless nights about it. It might sound ridiculous but the 23-year-old really considers style as a huge part of her life and this makes her worry a lot.
The actress-turned-designer runs three clothing lines with her twin sister Ashley: The Row, Elizabeth + James and new junior range Olsenboye. All the lines are successful and liked by customers.
Mary-Kate said:
I’m so crazy. I can look at something right now and say one thing about it. I’ll go home, not be able to sleep, and have a completely different perspective in the morning.”
Ashley thinks their designs are so popular because they feel what looks good.
She said:
I think we both find interest in the same things. We love fabric. We love fit. We love colours. Fashion depends on the person. If you’re comfortable in it and feel good in it, that’s what people notice. For me, I just love beautiful things.”
