The rock star Courtney Love, who was once married to Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain, made the shock acknowledgment in the January 2009 issue of British Elle magazine.

She said:

Baby, if I could get a gastric band I would!

I’ve heard it’s a lot of vomiting and a pain in the ass, but it’s still easier than a diet.

I did go to see a Hollywood doctor about it. I wasn’t desperate, I just knew I had to do something. He said no.

I might have been fat, but I wasn’t that fat. I tried lipo on my stomach after that. It was horrible and it didn’t work.’

During the interview, she talks about family, fashion.

She also talked about Russel Brand:

Look, I swear that Russell Brand and me are just really good friends. I don’t want to have sex with him. I actually have a very satisfactory sexual life, thank you very much.’

Love said about her 16-year-old daughter Frances Bean, fathered by Cobain:

My daughter knows I did drugs in my first trimester of pregnancy.

She weighed 7lb 6oz when she was born and she was healthy.

We were excellent parents and I say that despite pretty much always having an edge on.

Frances bonded very well with her father, at least in the first year and a half of her life.’

There are a lot of things I never did,” B. says, “because I believe in watching those true Hollywood stories and I see how easy it is to lose track of your life. Think about Marilyn Monroe.”

On marriage to Jay-Z:

It’s a power struggle. But if I didn’t respect someone and they didn’t have that strength, then I would be bored. I wouldn’t be attracted to them.”

On having kids:

I’m terrified of having a child. “No way! I’m terrified of delivering a child because I saw my nephew being born. That traumatized me. I’m only 27. I’ve got time.”

How her latest role, playing Etta James in Cadillac Records, took an emotional toll on her personal life:

My mom had to leave the set. I don’t normally curse. Maybe twice a year. I have to be really livid. Somebody saying things or scheduling something where I’m not in control. It was freeing, but it was also the most emotionally draining time of my life. Every day I would come home; my eyes would be completely swollen.”

Tina on Sasha Fierce:

Her cousin Angie gave her that name. We’d tease Beyoncé about having a split personality. Me and Angie and Ty, her stylist, would work with her doing a quick change when she’d come off the stage between sets. Beyoncé would start screaming, ‘What’s wrong with you? Where’s my shoe?’ ‘Uh oh,’ we’d say, ‘Sasha is here.’ I’m like, This is some crazy person who’s doing this quick change. She’s another person up there. We don’t take it personally. Sasha is her bragging side…I don’t know whether to say it, but her hip-hop side.”
