Every year we write about best-dressed ladies at the Oscars. The women plan their outfit a few months beforehand thinking over all the details. But each time there is at least one newcomer who feels the most priviledged as she is approached by plenty of designers to create the very special dress for her. Why? Because all the attention will be on this new lady that has pulled ahead and become famous despite all the difficulties.
In 2007 it was Jennifer Hudson who had the spotlight. French actress Marion Cotillard followed in 2008 after her breakthrough performance in La Vie en Rose. And in 2009 Freida Pinto’s attire was the most discussed on the red carpet.
This year, all eyes are on Gabourey Sidibe, the girl who is pretty different fom all the previous actresses. The 26-year-old earned a Best Actress nomination for her work in Precious, and is going to be that lucky ‘rookie’. Fashion designers are clamoring for her attention.
We’ve been offered dresses by all these huge designers,” her stylist Linda Medvene told USA Today.
As I’ve already said Gabourey isn’t the typical skinny Hollywood actress, but as her stylist says she is easy to deal with and the process of dress selection was very nice and funny.
Working with Gabby has been so easy because she’s so comfortable with who she is, in her skin,” her stylist said.
Well, she’s really gifted and hilarious and huble. And I can’t wait to see what she’s wearing at the glamorous event.
