The 30-year-old American actress and Emmy Award winner Katherine Heigl covers UK Marie Claire August 2009.
The Grey’s Anatomy starlet unveils to the mag her ideas on movie sex scenes, looks and her new upcoming movie, The Ugly Truth.
She says in the interview for Marie Claire:
About her husband Josh Kelley hating watching her sex scenes:
It’s not his favourite part of the profession but I told him, ‘It’s my job, and if I feel uncomfortable doing my job, and it suffers because of it, I’ll kill you.”
About moving in with Josh:
Josh and I didn’t live together before we were married because I wanted to hang on to those last days of my single-girl pad as long as I could. I’m not going to lie – it was rough when we finally moved in together. It’s the simple stuff everyone talks about. I like things neat, he leaves things everywhere.”
About Feminism:
I’m not out burning bras, but I’m very opinionated about women owning their power. I look back at my twenties and see that I was much less confident. You repress how you really feel because society tells us what women think isn’t valid, that we’re frivolous and shallow.”
About making romantic comedies:
I know I’m catching some crap for it, but I really like doing them. People keep asking me if I want to do anything more serious, or Oscar-worthy, and I do, but I’m not quite there yet. I did a lot of heavy stuff in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. My mother went through breast cancer 12 years ago, and it brought a lot of that back. I don’t want to do that 24/7.”
About being on top of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood:
That’s awesome. I didn’t know that. I have a tendency to go, ‘Oh my God, there’s nowhere for this to go but down’, but I should take a minute to appreciate that. If it all goes away tomorrow? I’ll be OK, too.”
About importance of her looks to her:
I always assume I look better than I actually do. I’ll feel pretty good about myself when I leave the house, then I’ll see a picture and think, ‘Crap, I had no idea that’s what I was looking like.’”
