Marc Jacobs – No Celebrities At Fashion Show!

Share |

Marc Jacobs understands that to extend the market for his creations he needs to attract new customers to his shows but as nearly all places are taken by A-list celebrities this can be a bit difficult. So, at his upcoming show at New York Fashion Week the designer doesn’t want to see stylish A-listers.

Besides, the acclaimed designer thinks it’s “boring” to have all the same audience again and again,

He revealed to the New York Post:

I’m not into the celebrity thing . . . like we used to. That’s boring.”

Marc doesn’t want to see famous fashionistas even backstage. Once Madonna came backstage after his show and made the couturier feel “awkward”.

He said:

She came backstage, and I was like, ‘What do you do with her now?’ Because it’s not like she was invited.”

Not being invited to the show, celebrites will be able to watch it on the internet as Jacobs and Calvin Klein have announced they will be streaming their runway shows on the web. Rodarte and Alexander Wang will be following in the footsteps.

An industry insider said:

The industry is really suffering right now, and there’s a need to reach a bigger audience in order to increase sales. Having Fashion Week online makes these designers universal, which is a huge benefit to their lines.”
