Mini-skirt design that was brought in to the vogue industry 50 years ago by Mary Quant will be imprinted on a stamp shortly.

We’ll be able to see the world wide known Mary Quant’s design issued just by the Royal Mail. Quant’s mini-skirt is one of the 10 designs chosen to represent 20th century classics. Other iconic things include a red telephone box, an underground map and the mini car.

It’s reported also that the model chosen to represent the mini-skirt design on a stamp will be in one of Quant’s favourite fashion outfits, called the ‘Banana Split’, it’s a black, fit-and-flare mini, with a zipper placed from the neck to the navel.

As The Telegraph reported, Quant commented:

In the 60s, we would pull the zip down to the model’s belly-button and paint a daisy (her symbol) on it.”

Mary Quant, who is 74 years old now, will see her outstanding achievements recognised later this month at the V&A’s regular ‘In Conversation With’ event.
