Some time ago Mischa Barton was considered an upcoming fashion icon for her unique way to combine items which seemed absolutely inconsistent. Fashion critics and watchers would sing her praise.
But now the situation has changed and her style is more and more often called as too ‘nutty’ to be nice. However, this is not what the actress will react to according to her interview cited by The Times of India.
She says she is what she wears and fashion for her is not just a way to attract attention, it’s rather a way to express her own personality. She believes that no one and nothing will bring her down by this negativity as she grew up with fashion and plans to grow old with her unique style.
I grew up with pictures of Marianne Faithful and Anita Pallenberg on my wall, they have always been my style. I am a weird replica of the 70s! But it is cool to see that it is back on trend.”
She was obviously making hints at a glorious comeback of headbands, hippie-inspired clothes, floral and geometric patterns, oldie cuts, etc.
The same interview reveals that actress considers the British to be more open-minded about fashion than the Americans. She says the Americans tend to categorize stars by the clothes they wear. In this sense she doesn’t belong to any of the categories as her look is a mix of more styles and as a result people in America label her as a fashion nutjob.
What is nice about fashion in Britain is that you get to be more eccentric and a bit more yourself. In the States they don’t like when you look too different. It is about experimenting by mixing and matching to develop your own look. You should try to wear something that embodies your sense of style. I think it is bad to wear head to toe all one look”.
