Monster Children refuses from Kate Moss Picture

Well, even the most celebrated models do not suit all mag covers. Kate Moss pictures shot for the cover of Issue 23 Monster Children magazine by photographer Slimane were considered as too risqué and not accepted for the cover. I was really surprised.

The photos feature Kate lying on the bed wearing a simple babydoll that revealed one nipple. Seems quite OK, but magazine editors refused to publish the photo on the cover. Only limited number of issues will have the image on.

In a statement on Monster Children’s Web site, Milligan and Searl note:

Our newsagent distributor didn’t share the same affinity for Hedi Slimane’s shot of Kate Moss’ breasts as us, so this cover will only be available at bookstores, online and for some lucky subscribers. While the newsagents’ copies will have a selection of photos that we’ve printed and stuck to the front.”

The image is not a new shot. It was made as a part of a series of topless images of Moss called “Kate Liberation” that were taken by Slimane and firstly published on March 8, 2008 as a cover story for France’s Libération Next magazine.
