Stella McCartney Asks Lohan to Stop Wearing Leather

Share |

Lindsay Lohan loves leather and fur, she has proved that more than once. But with the growing number of people turning vegetarian Lindsay will have to change her habits probably.

It is now Stella McCartney who has begged the actress to stop wearing leather.

The British designer refuses to use animal hides in her designs and wants to persuade the girl to ditch any clothes containing animal skins.

Stella is concerned that Lindsay is going overboard with her use of leather.

Lindsay wears a lot of Stella’s designs and she doesn’t want to be associated with such a high-profile star who insists on wearing animal products,’ DailyMail reports.

Stella has already tried to convince her close friends Madonna and Kate Moss to stop wearing fur and leather but her attempts failed.

She [Stella] never uses fur and encourages everyone to opt for a vegetarian lifestyle,” Stella’s spokesman said.

Of course, Stella isn’t the first person to try to persuade Lindsay to wear more animal-friendly clothes.

Last year the 23-year-old had a bag of flour thrown at her by an anti-fur campaigner in France.

Besides, people for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) contacted Lindsay to ask her to pose in their I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign.

Well, let’s see if Stella succeeds.

I don’t think Stella should impose her views on Lindsay nor anyone else. Lindsay loves fur and leather and I think she looks fab in it! She should stay looking cool and beautiful. Vegetarians and Vegans are entitled to their views but it makes me uncomfortable when they try to tell other people what to think and do. Everyone’s free to do and wear and eat what they want!

  2. manda Says:

    You’re gross Nika.

you have no idea what it must be like for those animals. existing only to die in horrible places. for humans. GENERATIONS of animals that have never known a kind world, or fresh air. because we’re better than them right? we’re humans and we stand upright and we have hands and big brains and we can do whatever we want. and we can just kill kill kill baby animals and club mother seals in front of their cubs and it’s looks SO fucking great. who cares? can we wear human skin and hair too? maybe some nice poor indian children or some ethiopians! they have the BEST shades. (oh but THAT’S horrible for me to even say!)

if you weren’t a coward you would go to meetyourmeat.com, and that’s where the “fab” leather comes from. just wait until you see how they get fur. wearing pain and suffering all over yourself for trend is disgusting. i dare you to go to the site. people don’t because they act indignant and self righteous about people like me, but really i’m just confronting you with a truth you would rather not see, people like me piss off people like you because you people know WE’RE RIGHT! what does it take for people like you to care? to see the atrocities we commit in the name of comfort, fashion, and getting fed?? There are other better healthier ways to do it.

  3. Taz Says:

I’ve been to the site, seen the videos… yes, it’s horrible but it won’t keep me from meat. Don’t care for fur but leather feels and smells good.

  4. amanda Says:

Why don’t you have the same compassion for people who are literally slaves? You seem to rally against people who eat meat or wear leather, but you seem not to care that at this point in time there are more slaves in history than any other time… Do you have any compassion for humans?

  5. aimee Says:

you can have compassion both for animals and humans that are suffering.Don’t try to take away from one important issue like animal cruelty by making it look unimportant compared to human slavery(which is also an important issue).

  6. tindog Says:

Amanda, most of us do have compassion for people in those situations, indeed as much or more than for the animals, it’s just not what we’re talking about here.

Nika, Stella is not imposing her views on Lindsay per se, she is asking to not be associated with someone who practices against her beliefs, so instead of saying ‘quit wearing my products AND leather and fur’ it only makes sense to ask her to stop wearing the leather and fur.

  7. Demetrius Says:

Stella’s problem is that she produces a PRODUCT, not a lifestyle. She should learn the difference. She has no right to tell anyone what they can wear with the clothes they buy from her. Maybe Lindsay’s response should be to stop wearing Stella’s clothes. That should make everyone happy.

  8. manda Says:

Of course i have compassion for people. God only knows what some of the less fortunate have to go through. Children being sold as sex slaves all over the world, not to mention just plain ol’ slavery. Rape. Genocide. I help support these causes that rally against these crimes against humanity. I have spent alot of money to help these causes, believe me. Those are the things that any decent human being inherently knows is wrong. This, however, was not the context of the article.

There are NOT enough voices for our animals. Not enough cries for the suffering to stop. I wish more people would take the time to learn the truth about what that these poor creatures go through on a mass scale daily. Like the holocaust except bigger. We treat them as things without feelings. Without intellect. Objects sent by god to serve our every whim. Are we too cowardly to REALLY find out what happens to them and walk in their footsteps? Could you imagine how scary and painful and horrifying it must be for them? And why when you support animal rights are you deemed an anti-humanist? Is it fear? Anger? It’s a defense mechanism. Look, I know meat tastes good, I used to eat it. We are smart a being. There are plenty of fibers at our disposal to where we no longer need animals to keep warm or protect ourselves. I mean some of these animals are beaten and skinned alive. Could you imagine? For fashion? REALLY?!

It’s terrible and whether you admit it or not you know it’s true. Do you have the decency to stop buying into it? Well that all comes down to what kind of person you are. Walk in their footsteps. That’s all I humbly ask.

  9. LaTrisha Says:

People are not going to stop eating meat or wearing leather just because some designer asks them to. People want to eat meat. Would you rather the hides of animals slaughtered for food go to waste?

  10. GrowSomeBalls Says:

    Ur going after CLOTHES????

Worry more about the FOOD Industry!!!!

I’ll eat at McDonald’s even though I know its heavily subsidized and the indoor animals live in dark wind tunnels. So what? It’s economies of scale. The world has to eat. Population control. Its one problem after another isn’t it?

  11. Max Says:

Humans do not need to go to McDonald’s to eat. Humans don’t even NEED meat to survive.

  12. me Says:

I need to eat meat…So I have the strength to carry my heavy fur coat…DUH!!

  13. Nicole Says:

Ranting about saving animals will do you no good, there will always be people who don’t care. Like me. I love fur, leather, and meat and I know first hand where it comes from and how we get it. Tough love, it looks and tastes good.

  14. Ahmed Says:

Eating meat or not and wearing leather or not, is an individual preference which we get from the family food habits. Well as someone said the life of humans in different places across the world is to be seen to be believed. We have seen and heard of hundreds of instances when the unfortunate and helpless people were hacked or burned. Don’t they deserve any compassion? Millions of people go to bed hungry. Where are the so called activists? Yes, love for animals if spoken about by those who are well fed and never know what is hunger. Go ask a person who is hungry and ask him what it means about the protection of animals.

  15. taru5 Says:

    good

  16. Jimmy Says:

I think God put animals on this earth for us to use, whether it be as a pet, for food, or for clothing. I don’t think animals should be mistreated while they are alive or tortured. I don’t think they should be brutally killed, meaning to suffer when they are being killed for meat or for some other purpose. However, I know that may not be practical. As someone pointed out, there would be an overpopulation of animals if they were never killed. Doesn’t India have cows on their streets because it’s sacred? Also, as far as furs go, they are ostentatious and I’ll admit can be beautiful to look at. I know they function to keep people warm, too. Aren’t minks mean? There’s no shortage of them, is there? As for leather, what would you use to keep up your pants, some cloth material? What kind of shoes would you have? I’m thinking more of men? I like a good steak and I like chicken and pork, too. It was put on the earth for a purpose.

  17. Lady Fan Says:

I think Stella should just be grateful that anyone, much less a “star” would want to wear her clothes…and as far as telling someone to quit eating meat, wearing fur and leather, keep it to herself! People are going to eat meat, and wear what they want! I know I am! And as far as being so hot to save animals, how about showing some of that concern for all the precious unborn children who are slaughtered by abortion every single day!!??

  18. carol clay Says:

I can not beleive what I am reading. you animal eating and wearing people need a realty check and get your head out of the sand. the reason why we have so many cows, chickens, pigs and minks and other animals that you eat and wear is because humans keep breeding them. Its not over population
if we stop breeding we wouldnt have over population problem, its all about greed and yes we can live without eating animals and wearing them look out side the box DUH.

  19. carol clay Says:

And I very much agree with Manda. I am a non eating meat and fur person and proud of it. I do not support greed and animal suffering There are other ways animal factory farms can make money. There are alot more people going vegan and that they should take to the bank.

  20. hussain Says:

    good

  21. rockerleatherlinda Says:

I have had this discussion so mant times. Yes I am compassionate about animals, I own several pets, I have been a vegetarian aout fifteen years… BUT I love wearing leather. I am not going to defend myself for wearing leather but I do it daily and the more leather the better I feel. It is sensous and sexy to feel and wear, it gets me noticed and I love wearing it. So please leave us leather wearers alone!!!!

  22. Andy Says:

I think Stella should mind her business and just make her fashions for those who don’t want the luxury of leather and fur. Lindsay is a great ambassador for leather and she looks fab wearing it. These animals are here for our use and if we choose to wear them, then so be it. I think that we would all agree that as long as they are not treated inhumanely before becoming my steak and leather pants, then fine.
