Stuart Weitzman – No Million Dollar Shoe

Stuart Weitzman has recently said he isn’t going to create his famous Million Dollar Shoe for the Oscars ceremony this year. He explains his decision by financial instability in the country.

Every year, the renowned shoe designer personally sizes and crafts a special jewelled shoe for one lucky woman to wear to the Academy Awards. However, the tradition has been stopped for awhile until the recession fades.

Weitzman comments:

There will be no Million Dollar Shoe for the Oscars this year. With so many people struggling financially, and unemployment at 10 per cent, I don’t think it is appropriate. The actresses still want to go for glamour, but this year it will be more understated.”

The list of the lucky ladies who had a chance to wear Weitzman’s Million Dollar Shoe to past Oscars includes: Ray star Regina King, Dreamgirls actress Anika Noni Rose and Mulholland Drive’s Laura Harring. Other stars who have worn the designer’s shoes to other glam events are Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, and Kate Winslet.
