Drew Barrymore graces US Harper’s Bazaar November 2008 issue
Drew Barrymore, 33, is very patriotic and beautiful on the November 2008 cover of Harper’s Bazaar. The Charlie’s Angels actress makes a declaration in this upcoming election issue.
Drew confesses, she is a proud Democrat and supporter of Barack Obama.
Drew talked politics, and endorsed Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama.
On how Obama made her cry:
When I heard him speak about a gay person never having to sit outside the hospital room with their loved one sick inside, I burst into tears because so many people I care about are homosexual and it was profound to have someone be sensitive to that. That’s the kind of world I want to live in, where we’re not holding our own principles in judgment above someone or against someone.”
On what she thinks of John McCain:
John McCain “is a good person, and he does care, but he has voted against things that are shocking as far as people’s liberties and economic choices.”
On Sarah Palin:
I think people realize the intention of the choice.
On her thoughts on voting:
I was raised in a family — well, no family, really, so no one talked to me about politics or why voting is important. So my way to educate myself was driving around America and filming all sorts of people with different mind-sets. I became an avowed voter and feel it is really important to engage other people in it.”
Earlier in October, Drew was spotted kissing Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick at a the Kings of Leon concert in Manhattan.
On dating:
I’ve been single for months now, and I’ve turned my attention towards my passions, my friends and the causes I believe in.
I’ve learned to put myself second. I’ve had a couple of fun, frolicky relationships, but really, I got out of five-year-relationship and dated a few people here and there. Mostly it’s been about learning who I am, not through a man, but for myself.
I’ve been spending more time with my friends and doing more traveling with the U.N.” — she’s been to Kenya twice - “and challenging myself with work. I’m so happy with where my priorities are right now.”
Eva Mendes does Harper’s Bazaar Australia November 2008 issue
Hot Latina actress Eva Mendes is the cover girl of the November 2008 issue of Harpers Bazaar Australia.
She insists that her best feature is her shapely hips:
I’ve got some nice childbearing hips, and I feel very proud of them,” she says. “When I was younger I thought they were too big. I wanted to be slimmer, but now I totally [love] them.”
Eva Mendes admitted that she hates to be collated to fellow Jennifer Lopez, insisting her career is “more serious.”
I would like to think I will have a more serious career than J.Lo. We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop. She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible.”
In the interview, Eva talks about her her style, heritage, dieting and her famous curves.
On her curves:
I have to work out four to six times a week. It’s because I enjoy pasta and having a biscuit with my coffee. I didn’t work out today, but tomorrow I’ll run Bondi to Bronte. My Cuban heritage means if the zipper doesn’t zip up the whole way, we just say screw it! No big deal.”
On her exotic look:
I definitely feel my ethnicity or exoticness has got me to where I am, yet at the same time it can also hold me back because studio heads or directors are reluctant to cast me as an all-American girl. Those parts go to Drew Barrymore, who is actually a good friend of mine.”
On her upbringing:
When I was little I wanted to earn lots of money. I grew up in Silver Lake, LA, and we were very working class. I used to say to my mum: I’m going to buy you a big house, pay your bills and you’ll never have to work again. Then I discovered nuns don’t get paid, so I thought: How am I going to buy these houses?”
On her style:
I try not to stand out. My style can be a little kooky, but I don’t want to be known for how I dress. I’ve made a conscious decision to stay away from dresses that make me stand out in a ‘fashiony’ way. I certainly love fashion, but I want to be known for my work. Not for being controversial on the red carpet.”
On her banned Calvin Klein ad:
It’s weird the advertisement got so much attention from the internet alone. But it didn’t surprise me Americans wouldn’t allow it on television. My country is uptight about nudity.”
