Seasons change each other but we want to be fashionable and beautiful at all times.
Here we present 10 top trends for the forthcoming winter 2008-2009!
1. Fur and feathers
Coat trends have been already described earlier in Coats Trends for Fall 2008 & Winter 2009 >>
Winter is cold and of course you cannot do without a coat. This season designers have returned fur to fashion. It is chic and looks perfect on every woman.
We have seen a lot of short fur coats and jackets as well as fur embellishments. Fur collars are extremely popular and are seen in many collections.
There’s something about feathers - they create images of graceful swans, of flitting sparrows, of fairytales. As a winter trend, feathers and plumes add that ephemeral touch. ( In collection by Burberry Prorsum, Christian Lacroix, Donna Karan, Blumarine, Ralph Lauren and other)
2. Military looks
We have already written about military looks as a trend for fall 2008 and we have to admit it is going to be in vogue this winter either.
This style is considered by many as too manly but it looks really gorgeous on ladies, too.
(In collection by Temperley, Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, Derek Lam & Collette Dinnigan and other)
3. Bohemian look
It is part peasant, part Cossack, part sex-goddess rock chic. It has its roots in traditional folk elements - particularly Russian ones - but it fuses in luxury elements and rock-chic attitude.
The elements of this trend include billowy white peasant shirts, fringed boots, folk-inspired tooled leather pieces, charm belts and jewelry, embroidery and paisley prints, fur or fur-trimmed pieces.
(Gucci, Naeem Khan, and Anna Sui)
4. Knitwear
Winter time without knitwear is not possible reasonably. There are various styles to every taste – strict, business-like, pretty feminine or chic. Every lady will find her own piece.
5. Necklines
Tie neckline is a classic look that goes in and out of fashion on a regular basis. This season it is with us again.
It no longer looks granny-like especially when made in luxury satins and worn with skinny leather trousers. Ties on your coats, blouses and knitwear pieces can serve as scarves or bows if you wish.

Cowl and Stand Necklines
In the Winter 2008, cowl necklines have grown into even larger sculptural forms. They are used on knitwear, jackets and coats. Winter will be soon with us and clothes with this type of neckline is a perfect decision.

6. Tartan and plaid
As we have already mentioned tartan and plaid are among the trends this season. We see plaid patterns on anything: jackets, skirts, blouses, even tights. Rather than the traditional red tartans, 2009’s plaid embraces a palette of muted greys, blues, greens and browns.
7. Dresses
Dresses have always been one of the most favorite trends among women as they are very comfortable to wear and demonstrate the better parts of our bodies. Dresses of this season have sequins, various embellishments, lace and leopard prints.

There is a dress for everyone, whatever their age and figure. Dresses are of many styles, but the most popular for winter 2009 are slim drapery ones, the 60s A-line shift dresses, the embellished shift, and the prom fairy full skirt dresses.
Intense rich paisley patterns and geometric prints, brocades, tartan, satin, lace and sheers and ice cream colors have created a modern dress look.
8. Trouser Shapes
Winter is a season when many women prefer wearing trousers. So we have some styles for you to offer. It is no more a secret that fashion of the past years is returning.
That is why you have a wide range of trousers’ styles to choose. If you want 70s style, then flares are for you.
If you fancy 80s, then try carrot top fuller looser pants. For eveningwear, it is possible to select sequin trousers.
Skinny leather pants are a good choice as well. The newest line includes the peg-top narrow ankle cropped trousers. Wear ankle boots to close the gap.
9. Skirt Silhouettes
If you have chosen skirts instead of pants you should notice a change which fits in with the season. Skirts have become longer - just below the knee. Of course, miniskirts are as popular among young girls. However, there are fewer of them now.
Skirts are becoming more ladylike. Tulip skirts with reigned in fullness offer potential to add variety to your clothing. The line seems to be straight, but it is not straight actually.
10. Scarves
This season designers have tempered their imagination and scarves are mostly of average sizes in comparison to those of the last winter.
The trendiest scarves are made of jersey. They can be wrapped around your neck twice and hang down beautifully. Besides, a bit unusual variant for winter we see this season – a silk scarf. It is more decorative than practical though.

If you have two silk scarves of contrasted colors you can wear them both.
Here they are, the winter trends… Follow the fashion and be beautiful!

Be sure and print pictures of the way the animals are treated and what the process looks like of killing them for their fur. BTW if the fur comes from China most likely the animals were skinned alive. That looks good on every woman?? No flippin’ way!
I 100% agree…with Anne. Promoting the senseless murder that is the fur industry is terrible. There are so many wonderful faux furs and fur alternatives that using or wearing real fur is irresponsible and cruel. Just thinking of the torture those animals went through to make some woman look ‘good’ makes me sick and I hope that you will do some research and see what really goes into the production of this stuff. Trust me, those fox and minks and chinchillas and rabbits need their fur more than any of us do.
Girls, I really appreciate your attention and desire to express your own opinions about my post but if you read carefully you won’t find any propaganda of wearing fur, killing animals to make the woman look good or other stuff! It’s just a review of fashion tendencies. And each woman has to decide for herself whether she wants to wear fur or not. If you don’t feel good about it just skip the abstract about fur and pay closer attention to other trends. Thank you.
