Agatha Ruiz de la Prada – Autumn-Winter 09/2010
I’ve always favored Milan Fashion Week more than others, as when it takes place we have an opportunity to see the creations of the most outstanding designers the planet has ever seen: Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce&Gabbana and others.
They are unspeakable leaders in the fashion industry.
But there is one more reason why I like Milan Fashion Week. It’s because Agatha Ruiz de la Prada unveils her collection for Autumn/Winter 2009/2010..
I cannot put her in one line with the great names previously mentioned, not because she isn’t talented enough but because her creations are not usual, moreover, they are highly extraordinary!
The Spanish fashion designer is internationally recognized for her often outlandish and always colorful designs, which she applies to everything from home furnishings to children’s footwear.
Those who had never seen her works before may giggle and start asking whether she’s a normal person or not. But what one should know is that Ágatha’s catwalk remains one of the most celebrated in Europe.
This time she was as extravagant as she could be. A giant birdcage skirt, a dress embellished with hearts and ants, an eyeball headpiece, a dress of drawers, a sunny-side up egg clutch, an umbrella suit – all those danced down the runway. The diversity of colors was almost unimaginable – all colors of the rainbow and even more of them! Isn’t that amazing?
I wonder what her muse is that helps her make such strange and even whimsical designs. Is that those household objects that every woman deals with every day? Or something else?
Although Agatha Ruiz de la Prada’s Fall 2009 collection might not exactly be ready to wear, it certainly brought some fun to the runway, and that is what we all want in such hard times!
And to tell you the truth I even think I’d like to have a few items from that line in my own wardrobe! For instance, I just love those bright tights with metallic tint! And some of two-toned shoes are wonderful as well!
Of course, you may think the collection is horrible and not-to-the-place but there is some sense in it. We all want changes and the brighter they are the better!
I wonder what you think about the range you see at the pictures. Do you like it? Or consider it too extravagant?
