Air New Zealand Fashion Week
Thinking back to last year’s Air New Zealand Fashion Week start on a plane from Sydney to Auckland it was clear this year’s show would have something as remarkable and unforgettable as that. This year, models were thrown out of a plane to kick off the event.
Six skydivers wearing designs from Deborah Sweeney, Jaeha, Cybele, Karen Walker, Zambesi and Huffer jumped out of the plane high over Queensland.
This year ANZFW will have more shows open to the general public, thus, raising great public interest to the event.
Designers have chosen unusual venues for their shows. Jaeha has chosen a church for his catwalk show, Salasai plans to show his collection in a car park.
Cybele presented the collection “The Lighter Side of Dark” which featured bright coloured merinos, heavy cable knits and flowing see-through gowns, feather-trimmed tailored pants, jacket, and hotpants.
Cybele has once again proved out it is a trading label which understands how to make a woman beautiful without much objection.
There was a fantastic rusty gold and aqua accent for the grey, charcoal and black pieces.
The silk dresses were interesting to look at from every angle because of their draping, folds and gathering on the shoulders. The highlight was the platform footwear which had panels of hue extending up the model’s leg.
