Chanel and fashion are almost synonimous. Each time a collecion is unveiled we see what fashionistas are to hunt for this very season despite the huge prices and crisis. Nothing is surprising about it as Chanel is an embodiment of chic, style and sophistication.

Karl Kagerfeld has successfully been working for the brand for many years already and each season he invents something that makes everyone say ‘Wow!!!’

The Pre-Fall 2010 collection has again proved that talent is impossible to hide. Karl Lagerfeld created a fabulous range being inspired by an imaginary voyage to Shanghai by Mme Chanel. Coco Chanel never visited China but her passion for Asian antiques and interest in the multi-millennium Chinese culture are well-known.

Métier D’Arts Collection is full of exotic luxury. It was launched on an 85 metre-long barge, on the Huangpu river, bordering Shanghai’s famous Bund. Over thirty models walked from the four corners of the globe to show the flight of designer’s imagination.

Terracotta Army, urban romanticism of Chinese cinema, the glittering, decadent-chic of 1930s Shanghai, and the opulence of the imperial court were among the main themes of the range.

The collection featured plenty of knee-length capes and coats, short clinging dresses with peaked shoulders and floor-sweeping chiffon gowns, leather skirt-suits and leather leggings, knitted tunics and other beautiful sumptuous items.

Accessories were all about rich Chinese heritage, and included elaborate earrings, huge bracelets, necklaces with tassels, signature cone hats, embroidered felt boots, precious sandals, with sculpted feet inspired by calligraphy, etc.

I like the collection very much but my opinion is very subjective as I love Chanel! What do you think of the line?
