DVB Denim Ranges dumped from the stores

Victoria Beckham’s new dress collection was rather successful at the catwalk on New York Fashion Week this month, though I personally haven’t seen anything really worth calling “fashionable”. However, in comparison to her DVB jeans range this new line is surely much better.

The jeans Posh created have been dumped from the stores recently by a prestigious U.S. department store chain Saks Fifth Avenue after the jeans failed to sell as well as had hope.

Critics complained the $300 jeans cost too much if we took into account Victoria’s inexperience as a fashion designer and the cheap denim from China they’d been manufactured from.

Besides, it was reported that executives of Saks were offended by Beckham’s decision to sell her dress line exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman in New York and three Neiman Marcus branches instead of their stores: ‘Bergdorf never carried her jeans, but they got her designer line anyway.

‘Nobody wanted to buy $300 jeans from someone who is not a trained designer.’

Despite the obvious failure of the jeans collection Victoria’s Spring/Summer dress collection is expected to sell far better than her denim. The dresses range from $600 to $1,400 in price.

There were some talks about the assistance of Roland Mouret in a new line creation. But according to Victoria’s spokesman these were all just rumors:

Roland Mouret has no design input in the Victoria Beckham dress collection. Aside from being a friend, his only professional help was introducing Victoria to a seamstress and a London design space when she began the collection.”

Victoria’s team is doing their best to solve the problem of her denim collection but it is hardly possible to do anything about it now.

Last summer, U.S. stores Kitson and Fred Segal had to heavily discount jeans from the DVB collection after they failed to sell as it had been expected. The price was really low – only $69.99 for a piece.

I’m not a fan of Victoria Beckham at all but even I feel regretful to her for such a shame with the denim line. Hope that her new dress range will have a better future!
