Singer and designer Gwen Stefani, known for her love of red lipstick and teen style from Japan’s trendy Harajuku neighborhood, has declared that she will design a line of work-wear exclusively for W Hotels. Beginning this fall, women staff members at the W hotel’s Living Room lounges throughout the country will be wearing the traditiol L.A.M.B. design by Gwen.
The Stefani/W Hotel collaboration grew out of the luxury hotelier’s promoters of a Fashion Week lounge where celebrity can run away from the hoi polloi and the photoflashes.
Jenni Benzaquen, director of public relations for W Hotels, says
Gwen Stefani was in our lounge last season, and through that relationship she’s doing uniforms for the [Rande] Gerber bars located in W Hotels.”
Her design is not only stylish, but very functionable for the energetic employees: the black jersey dresses unite a fitted ’80s silhouette and asymmetrical styling with ’60s seam parting and side vents.
Gwen says about this design,
I wanted to design a super cute dress that I would be excited to have in my own closet and approached it in the same way I think about my clothing for a tour. We’ve designed a sexy and comfortable outfit for these women to wear out on their own stage every night.”
Before Gwen Michael Kors has already projected mix and match coordinates for other W employees.
The uniforms–short dresses made of washable black jersey–will debut in December or early next year.
