A recent survey has proved that women normally base their perception of their body shape on models and Hollywood starlets, rather than on ordinary women. However, those fashion icons and film stars are 15-23 percent lower in weight and 5-6 inches taller than the ‘average’ American woman. As a result we have so many ladies depressed about their so-called ‘body problems’.
If you are the case you have to realize that comparison of your shape with the ones of these superpeople is often against you.
There are a lot of ways to look leaner by dressing correctly. It’s all about playing up your assets and downplaying your problem areas. Any woman can look good and it’s not necessary to spend a lot of money.
Following simple rules below you will provide a perfect look of yourself:
1. Mind your posture
If you want to look leaner, you need to stand up straight all the time.
Probably in some ways it looks like you’re sticking out your chest, but there is nothing wrong with it. If you have some problems with your abdominal or back muscles, take yoga and Pilates classes and do some exercises at home as well. You’ll notice a significant improvement within weeks.
2. Wear a good bra
Make sure you’re wearing a supportive, properly fitting bra. Every woman needs to have her bra remeasured every six months because body changes shape and bras stretch out.
If you’re wearing a stretched-out bra, it automatically makes you look saggy and heavier on top. Invest in a bra that holds your breasts together; doing so gives your upper body a tighter and leaner look.
3. Choose the right pantyhose
We have already written about types of pantyhose. The ones you need is Control top, Body-shaping, Push-up pantyhose or Modeling pantyhose with Lift up Action. They provide comfortably smooth and slim tummy, thighs and behind.
4. Avoid baggy clothes
If you’re a bit overweight you should avoid wearing baggy clothes. You may probably think that you look thinner but everybody around will tell you it is just too big on you and makes you look bigger than you actually are.
To look really leaner select a top and bottom that are more flattering to your shape. A flowing top that cascades over your upper part and lean pants that stay along the leg would definitely give you a better look.
4. Wear one colour
Wearing just one colour from head to toe – is the favorite trick of virtually every stylist. One dark colour creates a longer, leaner look.
Black is the most slimming, it will make you seem thinner instantly. But if you are blond black might not be your colour. In this case choose any other dark hue.
Two colours break the body in half and a lighter one on the bottom makes you look bottom-heavy.
However, if you really want to wear two colors, choose the ones that are close to each other in the palette and then wear the darker one where your problem area is and the lighter where you’re trying to highlight.
Remember everything should “flow” without sharp interruption from top to toe.
5. Choose the right footwear
High heels make your silhouette longer and thus slimmer. If you cannot balance on high stilettos you may choose chunky heels that are much more comfortable. Steer clear of straps across the foot or ankle.
Open-toe shoes are also a good option.
If your ankles are thick avoid wearing running shoes that hug your ankles. Instead try mules; they take the attention away from your ankles and place it on your entire leg. Choosing boots you may have another problem – thick calves. If that’s about you get yourself a pair of boots that cover the entire calf.
