If you are a fan of the TV show “Mad Men” or just in love with the 60′s Banana Republic has launched a limited edition “Mad Men”-inspired fashion line that consists of 60′s-style apparel for men and women. Banana Republic in collaboration with Emmy Award-winning costumer designer of the show Janie Bryant have created around 65 clothing and accessory items that look like they’ve just come out from the screen but there are certainly modern twists to the clothes.
Working with Janie to gain a true understanding of the Mad Men look and feel was a delight.
Janie was instrumental in helping us achieve the series aesthetic and standard of authenticity with this capsule collection, offering sketches, her own inspirations and actual artifacts from the production set to help inspire the Mad Men within all of us.

The collection is very extensive and includes knitwear, 60′s style men’s suits with sleek pocket squares, trench coats, high neck shift and full-skirt evening midi dresses, tie-neck blouses, and various accessories that include trendy Fedora hats, silk ties, handbags and footwear. The pieces come in a variety of colors but there are prints too, leopard heels and bags are available along with a subtle houndstooth pattern.
Despite the collection’s origins Janie Bryant notes that the clothes is not costume-y but a wearable modernized version of Mad Men’s on-screen fashion.
Collaborating with Simon and his team to design this collection was an experience I’ll never forget.
It’s so rewarding to help create a collection that will allow fans of the series to channel their own Mad Men style and take home fashionable items that are modern, not costume.
