Lingerie as Outwear by Galliano

John Galliano Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 Haute Couture fashion show for Christian Dior was sensational. Lots of really perfect designs showed us what the beauty and originality is.

First of all we should mention that the show was presented at an unusual place. The models walked down the catwalk at Dior salon in Paris. Surrounded with the flowers the girls looked very pretty and fascinating.

The choice of the place is explained very simply. It is not for cost-cutting purposes, according to Dior CEO Sidney Toledano, but due to the desire of the designer to express the spirit of couture.

The collection features lingerie as outwear clothes. Models were dressed in gorgeous tulle gowns with corsets for tops, cocktail dresses with bustiers and garters, sheer garments revealing hot lingerie underneath and plenty of other items.

The range is very diverse and includes lots of great pieces. The line bears some spirit of the 50s demonstrating us garments in bold hues and extreme shapes.

It seems that Galliano remembered every piece a woman might need as lingerie. His creations included sexy stockings, belts, slips, garters and elaborate corsets.

And these were intricately combined with ordinary skirts, blouses and jackets.

Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper reports:

A lilac, wide-collared jacket was worn with seashell-pink lace ‘tap’ pants and an orange satin ‘tulip’ skirt with a vintage-style, 50s black bra.

Lace knickers, suspenders and stockings were paired with a dramatic, black-and-white, zebra-print jacket. A leopard-print sheath dress was open at the bust to show an elaborate black lace bra.”

Even the shoes in the collection are lingerie-inspired, with straps resembling bra fastenings. Interesting, isn’t it?

I love the collection! That doesn’t mean, of course, that tomorrow I would wear garter the way everyone saw it but the idea looks great! Those too confident can try the items!
