Matthew Williamson summer collection for H&M

On Tuesday Swedish fashion house H&M spokeman said Britain’s Matthew Williamson would design its summer 2009 women’s collection.

The line by Williamson will be launched worlwide on April 23 and a summer range for both men and women will get in stores in mid-May.

Matthew has such a good eye and a way for working with prints that he mixes up in a new way. When he combines these things, you get a very contemporary London look,” H&M creative adviser Margareta van den Bosch said in a statement.

Williamson extended censorious applause with his colorful lines in London in 1997 and his designs are often worn by famous people such as Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Thandie Newton, Mischa Barton.

I love the fact that H&M have created a new phenomenon in fashion through the pioneering concept of collaborating with high-end designers to create one-off limited edition capsule collections. I am thrilled that my creations for H&M will be accessible to and hopefully enjoyed by so many people around the world” Williamson said.

H&M has a long history of cooperation with popular fashion designers.

Previous collaborations were collections by Comme des Garcons-founder Rei Kawakubo, Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld, and others.

   I’m only 12 but i really want to become a fashion designer!!! i’ve done modeling and was interested in fashion since i was 2 and loved it since! I just learned who Matthew Williamson was ( no offense) so i googled. *BLUSHING* Yes, I googled… I am madly in love with this man’s- no, in love with this genius’ work! I am currently designing an outfit inspired by his summer 09 collection (and yes, i am 12)! I only pray that one day the world will know me as the world’s youngest fashion designer and one day make a collection with Williamson and others!!!!!!!!!
