Max Azria S/S 2009: Nastia Liukin

Olympic gold medal gymnast Nastia Liukin, 18, graces the Max Azria’s spring 2009 collection ad campaign, which will be presented later this month.

The US gold medalist is showing off her gymnastic skills in the online ads and photoshots, but not in any fashion magazines in late January.

This is the Nastia Liukin’s first fashion campaign.

For the Max Azria campaign, we wanted someone iconic- someone timeless. We met Nastia at our last runway show, and she was everything we were looking for”, commented Lubov Azria, creative director of Max Azria to WWD.

The spring collection was inspired by movement and modern dance so she was perfect. It was meant to be, and the magic just sort of happened.” She added.

Azria 2009 is all about the luxury of alleviation, fluidity and motion and Nastia Liukin is a good icon of this idea.
