Dior has shot a spectacular ad campaign for Fall 2013 in Opéra Garnier, Paris. The brand tapped Daria Strokous, Marie Piovesan, Iselin Steiro, Alex Kirtoka, and Anastasia Ivanova to pose for photographer Willy Vanderperre. The models mainly wear the designs from the brand’s pre-fall 2013 collection including the dramatic satin full skirt gowns and Bar suits.
Spectacular Dior Fall 2013 Campaign
Opéra Garnier is a beautiful architectural creation clad in stone and decorated with statues, gilded embroidery. Maybe that’s why most of the designs shown in the ads were taken from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection, which is more dramatic than the Fall 2013 line. There are more full skirt dresses with assymetric hemlines and dramatic jewelry.
While the photos capture the general look and feel of the collection, the campaign video shows more details and textures up close. The caracul is layered over shiny silk and the suit fabric is combined with leather of monochrom gloves and Miss Dior bags.
You can also see the pearl earrings and bracelets and those marine-like necklaces from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. The hairstyles are very suitable for the glamourous even pompous campaign. I especially loved Alex Kirtoka’s hair – a waved bob with a long straight ponytail.
Dior’s new aesthetic is quite simple and elegant. It sometimes can be quite ambigous but we love the assymetric dresses, the tops with dramatic trains, and the full skirts. Raf Simons’ latest endeavor though caused quite mixed feelings apart from accessories. These were spectacular. The shoes, the bags in colorful combinations are just perfect for summer. We cannot wait for the July to see what Dior’s new creative director prepared couture-wise.
