The white shirt has become classic and can be compared to the little black dress regarding its versatility.
White is very popular this year thus making the white shirt a fashion revival. It is not just for work wear but can be a good choice for evening and casual as well.
Just like the little black dress, this shirt can take you from office to bar in one simple step.
Michael Herz, head of design for Aquascutum, compares a white shirt to “a blank fashion canvas you can do anything you like with.” Thus, it provides you with the opportunity to create your own style by matching it with some great accessories and outfits.
Yes, they are perfect but often hard to find. I know it’s odd to hear that as when you walk into any high street chain there are lots of them. But it’s just that to the picky eye there’s something just a little bit wrong with most of them.
Everything needs to come together: it needs fine cotton neither too thin nor too thick, a brilliant cut, great stitching, good buttons, perfect cuffs and sleeve length; and on top of all that, the best require a bit of flair.
Which is why, if you were to do the white shirt equivalent of a blind wine tasting - that is, line up a big range with the labels ripped out - you’d nearly always find that the ones you really, really lusted after were made by the masters.
Of course, you don’t need telling that none of these come cheap.
The Classic Look
The white shirt looks well with pencil skirts and strict black pants.
Make sure your shirt is not too wide and fits you great especially if you want to tuck it in; otherwise you’ll look pretty like a hot air balloon.
If you have a floaty shirt or a smock-type, then try a fitted skirt or slim-cut pants. And don’t forget about the right brooch or a cluster of badges to accessorize the shirt with a traditional collar.
The Mannish Look
To create the masculine look go for a sleek tailored waistcoat, tuxedo pants or boyfriend jeans. You may try a masculine style shirt with jeweled or sparkly cufflinks.
Statement shirt
If you own a Statement Shirt let it speak for itself by teaming it with classic jeans.
Kate Bosworth, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez
For evening choose simple, well cut black pants or an elegant skirt. Accessorize your look with new fashionable statement shoes and a nice bag.
Various shirts with ruffles, pleats and pussy bows do not require any jewelry at all as the detailing does the talking.
Choose the shirt that flatters your body
White shirts look gorgeous when they are clean and perfectly matched with other pieces of an outfit.
However, white adds some width to your frame and can make your body appear slightly larger. So, ensure that you choose a style and cut that flatters your body shape.
The best choice is a wrap-over shirt for it is good to most figures. If you have a large tummy and hips prefer one that ends slightly below, and not on the waist. Corset styles are perfect for drawing in a large waist. Ruches at the sides visually minimize a large stomach.
Ladies with a big bust should choose a neckline that flatters the bust without accentuating it, the best choice here is a square or sweetheart neckline or a V-neck.
Or you may select an Empire-line style that is fitted under the bust.
Right Underwear
Steer clear of white bras which are likely to show through the weave.
Avoid black bras either at all costs. The best is a bra of a flesh tint. Nude colors are invisible as they match your skintone and are the most appropriate under the white shirts especially if they are transparent.
That is all about white shirts, my Dear Friends! I hope these simple tips will be helpful.

The white shirt is a must have, something that never goes out of fashion like the black skirt, or LBD as you’ve mentioned. By the way, i prefer to wear black bra under the white shirt - it draws much attention and i like that!!!
