Valentin Yudashkin Autumn-Winter 2009/2010
Valentin Yudashkin, the most outstanding and exceptionally talented Russian designer, works to conquer new positions in fashion world.
He is well-known not only in Russia but far abroad, in the US, Europe, Australia and other countries and parts of the world. His new collection was unveiled at Milan Fashion Week and made everyone really impressed.
The collection tells what a modern woman should look like. According to Yudashkin the main tendency of the season is a strict style with no bright hues or abundant detailing. Geometric shapes and art colors were the inspiration for the line – old designs with a new twist.
The designer says Malevich’s art, Tatlin’s architectural constructivism of the first years of the twentieth century as well as Yudashkin’s works of the ’90s influenced greatly the main idea of the collection.
The designer said that in the ’90s woman had just entered business world and felt much insecure whilst now she is a competent member of the business environment. She knows how to make deals and she certainly knows how she should dress.
Business style is all about strictness and elegance and Yudashkin decided to create a new perfect collection of business outfits.
Austere style skirts with purely feminine tiny details, jackets with shoulder supports, stylish trousers, sophisticated blouses – all these incorporated elegance and comfort. Voluminous suits and coats looked interesting and unusual.
The color palette wasn’t much diverse but what is essential the collection had few pieces of light colors.
Yudashkin explained that by the fact Russian people preferred darker tones for winter time. Deep grey, rich copper, light yellow, red, gold and of course black which is the favorite designer’s color – were all presented in the line.
Dresses have always been in the center of Valentin Yudashkin’s collections. This time they were rather different: simple formal dresses, nice cocktail dresses, long maxi dresses and princess-like puffy gowns which are knee-long but with a chic train behind, embellished richly with gems and sequins.
Looked wonderful! To tell you the truth I was literally fascinated!
Luxury fabrics were used to create the collection. These included satin, georgette, taffeta, velvet, silk, leather, cashmere and lace.
Unfortunately the time allocated for each designer at Milan Fashion week was rather limited and as a result we had an opportunity to see just two thirds of the range.
Pretty frustrating taking into account the fact the collection was so great.
