Summer party always sounds like a fun thing to attend. I can see you imagining a huge pool with small tables, full of food and drinks, and comfy lounge chairs all around. Ladies are striding in beautiful bikinis, whereas men, in shorts and flip-flops, are busy discussing some sport news. This is not what a Serpentine Gallery Summer party was about though. All the guests who attended the event were less or more dressed and no flip-flops were spotted. And who would chat about sport, if a rock royalty, His Majesty Mick Jagger, was having fun at the party as well.
Your Verdict on Best and Worst of Serpentine Gallery Summer Party 2013
The annual Serpentine Gallery summer party was held on June 26, 2013 in London, England. Both a former model and a successful fashion designer L’Wren Scott co-hosted the party. It was a huge event with a lot of celebrities and a spectacular show. I hope you are not too interested in the show itself, because what I am going to focus on is the fashion side of the party. And this is where I desperately need your help. Would you, my dear readers, be so kind to work as fashion experts for a while? I crave someone who can give me a hand with judging all these oufits.
Kate Moss does not look like a super model who has landed a number of magazine covers and starred in many campaigns and fashion shows. I see a blonde lady wearing a sheer black dress with some weird dots on the skirt and a decollete that almost bears her midriff. Moreover, she must have canceled the appointment with her hairdresser.
Another fashion model Katya Elizarova also seems to be far from the fashion world. Her pale legs perfectly match with a beige blazer, beige shoes, and beige handbag. Oh god, she is all beige! Her shorts, also beige, with dull-red hearts look like she has to take them to the dry-cleaner.
Princess Beatress of York seems to have missed the fact of her royalty. Her blue lace dress with ruffled sleeves is definitely not what I imagined princesses to wear. She looks more like my neighbor’s spouse who has always been asking her hubby for some pretty jewels and never got any.
Another representative of the fashion industry Jacquetta Wheeler smashed the idea of female beauty to atoms. Her curves, which she should have anyway, got buried underneath her lace overalls. Had she chosen red pumps and brighter accessories, fashion anesthetists would have been able to save her look. But she had an obvious intention to look totally unappetizing.
Jasmine Guinness goes beyond competition. Can you actually believe she has been a fashion designer and a model since 1994? I can’t make my mind up on what the worst thing in her look is – her messy bangs; black tights, shoes and shorts that seem to be one single piece; or bright pink bra she is showing off.
Good thing some guests can delight us with their outfits. Naomi Campbell opted for a glam-rock style, which fits her perfectly. I adore her black ankle boots with metal accents. They match with her black long-sleeved mini dress and all together create a very stylish look.
A model, DJ, and a blogger Bip Ling certainly knows how to be on trend. Her tiny gray-blue atlas dress is paired with fuchsia pumps and Christian Dior handbag. Good job, Bip, you keep our faith in fashion alive!
Caprice Bourret just demonstrated that an expecting woman can and must look good. Her elegant light pink dress with green hues makes even someone like me slobber over pregnancy and all the consequences it leads to.
Georgia May Jagger looks stunning in a little red dress glittering so fabulously that I can’t help staring at it. Her silver high heel sandals and red lipstick are a perfect match to the dress. The black handbag is something I would change though. It looks too heavy on her gracile shoulder. Well, Georgia is Mick Jagger’s daughter after all. She knows better what is good for her.
Pixie Geldof is absolutely gorgeous in her petite dress with letter print. This British model and socialite is well familiar with the latest trends and is willing to share her knowledge with everyone. I love her saucy haircut, the cute red pumps and her leopard printed clutch. Her look is so fresh and sophisticated that I immediately forgot about those fashion fails described above.
Now it is time for you to have your say in the Violation of Basic Fashion Concepts lawsuit. Please, do not be too tough. These people are still loved and admired all over the world. Give them a chance to fix the mistakes.
