Yes, she’s been working in the industry for a lot of years and she must know a thing or two about clothing. But it is unlikely that Naomi Campbell succeeds in designing as much as fellow model Kate Moss did.
Naomi hasn’t considered all facts necessary to become a designer. Besides having a talent and skill one has to “feel” her designs, understand the idea and love it to the deepest of her heart. Naomi Campbell isn’t a jeans girl. I would understand if she put her hands on the creation of dresses – she always wears those. But jeans, no. Kate’s designs were so popular because she was the one who daily promoted her creations by wearing pieces in the same way, in her very unique style.
To add to this, I don’t get it how a person with such experience in modeling and fashion can compare jeans to pasta. Talking about versatility of her creations Naomi Campbell said:
Jeans are like pasta… you can interpret them differently each time and play with the accessories. Wear them with flip-flops if you want comfort, or heels if you want to look sexy.”
I like the way DailyMail reporter describes Naomi’s statement:
Her latest comments – comparing jeans to pasta – actually make a surprising amount of sense… in a Forrest Gump kind of way.”
