Best and Worst Fashion Moments of 2013 BET Awards

Everyone loves to get acknowledged for their achievements. We do our best to be appraised and feel very miserable if our brilliant talents are not recognized. Just like us, lesser mortals, celebrities also have a survival need to get a credit for what they are doing. But do you think that just a couple of good words from their friends or fans is enough? No way! There must have been someone very greedy for compliments, who decided to hold different awards ceremonies. One of such events took place on June 30, 2013 at the Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles. 2013 BET Awards Ceremony was a successful show with a lot of guests, posing on the red carpet in their fabulous (and not really) outfits. Welcome with a big round of applause the best and the worst dressed of the fabulous night!

2013 BET Awards Ceremony: Best and Worst Dressed

BET Awards were established in 2001 to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, sports, acting, and other fields of entertainment. The ceremony is held annually and always gathers many celebrities. No doubt, they are all famous and successful, but does every single person that attended 2013 BET Awards Ceremony have an impeccable sense of style? Unfortunately, my answer is no. If we established a special Million Looks Best Style Award for outstanding achievements in the field of fashion, more than half of those people wouldn’t even be on the list of nominees. We could come up with a different recognition though. How about Million Looks Fashion Fail Award?

Skye Townsend
Skye Townsend

American actress and singer Skye Townsend must have been working out at the gym all day long, so she didn’t really have a chance to trade her black sport top for a nicer shirt. How can I blame her? If I had a waist like hers, I would dedicate my whole life to physical exercises. Oh, did I mention how badly I wanted to dye her hair all one color?

Miss Mykie
Miss Mykie

Miss Mykie obviously lives alone. If she shared her space with anyone, they would find a kind way to tell her how her thighs and behind looked in that black jumpsuit. I do not see either her white jacket or those elegant black scarpins, all my eyes can spot is that heavy black bottom. My guess is something is wrong either with her mirror or her perception of beauty.

Toya DeLazy
Toya DeLazy

What’s wrong with this woman? This is what my mouth screams out, unintentionally, because my aesthetic appreciation does not allow me to react in a proper way. Toya DeLazy seems to have lost her elegance and style somewhere on the way out of her mom’s belly. A 23-year old singer and song writer, wearing baggy drop crotch pants, white oxfords, and a white shirt with a colorful bow tie, would be a perfect match for PSY’s Gangnam Style dance crew.

Porscha Coleman
Porscha Coleman

Porscha Coleman surely checked the internet sources for the latest fashion trends before setting off to get her outfit. A cream dress with sheer panels sounds fine. But when those panels uncover something you need to hide, then it becomes an issue. Had she opted for different color duo, she would have probably been on a safer side.

Gabrielle Douglas
Gabrielle Douglas

Gabrielle Douglas’s dress looks as if it wasn’t finished yet, when she, excited about the ceremony, grabbed it without even trying it on. Only this can explain why she would wear an outfit that points out the fact she has absolutely no curves. I understand that her body shape is a result of gymnastics classes, but wouldn’t it be more reasonable to choose a dress that fits her figure?

Erica Hubbard
Erica Hubbard

Erica Hubbard has everything poor Douglas is lacking and is well aware of what she is blessed with. This beautiful strapless bustier mini looks stunning on her voluptuous body and contrasts with the white clutch. One thing I would change though is her peep-toes that are way too matchy. Neon yellow, beige, or plain black would be a better choice.

Naya Rivera looks absolutely gorgeous in a hot long-sleeved dress with a glistening pattern. Cute black scarpins and her lovely hairstyle all together create a very stylish look. She seems to be one of the main nominees for the first Million Looks Best Style Award.

Kat Graham
Kat Graham

Her rival number one, Kat Graham, has everything to become the Queen. I don’t think anyone would wear this saucy black dress with pockets and buttons better than she does. Her beautiful blonde waves look totally amazing. So amazing, that my mind, full of envy, refuses to process any other information. Finally, I manage to pull myself together just in time to notice her pretty earrings that match the buttons on her mini. Seems like this lady spent a lot of time to shine on the red carpet.

Bridget Kelly
Bridget Kelly

You would spot Bridget Kelly from a 10-mile distance. No, she is not that huge. It’s just that she totally stands out in a splendid yellow gown paired with bright blue high heel sandals. Her hairdresser certainly knows how to make Bridget glare. Her raven black hair is pulled in a neat bun, which lets us enjoy a nice view of her slender shoulders and neckline. Among monotone black and white, her canary dress deserves a big A.

Ashanti
Ashanti

Ashanti with her marvelous hairstyle can compete with Kat and Naya. She opted for an exquisite white lace dress with long sleeves and finished the look with beige ankle strap sandals. Her jewelry choice is pretty laconic – white oval earrings and sparkling rings. Beautiful outft for a beautiful woman!

As you probably noticed, some ladies did not pay any attention to what they were wearing, whereas others had an intention to rock the 2013 BET Awards Ceremony. Now that you are familiar with the nominees, share with us your opinion on who would get our Best Style and Fashion Fail awards.
