Kanye West can be a great musician and an ardent fashion fan but he’s no way a designer. He proved it to everyone at Paris Fashion Week on Saturday (October 1). A huge crowd of screaming girls greeted him before the show and his true friends including Rihanna and Beyonce supported him backstage. But all those efforts were simply in vain because the collection Kanye presented was plain and boring. Clothing was ill-fitting and unstylish.
I didn’t really expect much from Kanye West’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection but what we saw on the runway at Paris Fashion Week was just a weak attempt to play a designer game. Moreover, I can almost feel the disappointment designers in the front row – Azzedine Alaïa, Dean and Dan Caten, Olivier Theyskens, Jeremy Scott, and the Olsens – felt during and after the show.
A few dresses which Kanye West showcased during his Spring/ Summer 2012 show revealed too much flesh and didn’t look sexy at all (But they were very Rihanna style…) probably because the fitting wasn’t right.
Despite the fact it was a spring/ summer collection there was too much fur and leather in it. There were leather trousers in patches of blue, red and black, blue jeans and glittering silver pants. Tops came loose, some knitted, others made of sheer fabric like organza. And there were jackets… shapeless and totally destroying a woman’s figure…
Shoes in Kanye West’s Spring/ Summer 2012 were horrendous – enormous-looking and totally unattractive. And the only accessory the girls were wearing were the necklaces with KanyeWest name on them.
